Well, if you look at Naruto's face and the way he says it, it's kinda obvious that he didn't mean Sakura was her girlfriend in THAT way.

In the Viz translation he said. "I suppose you could say that". He definitely meant girlfriend so don't be in denial.

You really think Kishi would make it as unclear as that if he only meant her as a friend? And why say girl who is a friend? why not just friend?

But that could be taken in several ways, not to mention his derpy looking face as opposed to when konohamru asked him that same question three years ago and he was blushing. I still stick with saying that it was nothing more than confusion & misunderstanding. Naruto wouldn't just hold the hand of a girl who he knows love him if he didn't love her back, or at least feel something towards her. If Naruto was so certain about his feelings for sakura, he would have down right turned down Hinata. Just say I don't like you back, There would be no point in leading her on, especially now that they held hands. And NH has yet to have a conclusion, where as NS pretty much had it's conclusion in 469.

Well guess what? He did. This is Kishi's manga not yours. How the hell do you misunderstand someone if they ask you if someone is your girlfriend? What are you trying to make Naruto out to be?

And he's being nice to her. If someone confessed to you and you didn't feel the same way you're not going to ignore them...
