Rikudo's(god)sons inherited his yin and yang chakra
life-force and physical energies=yang chakra;powerful chakra and spiritual energies=yin chakra

Rikudo split himself into yin and yang to find peace he didn't want yin and yang to come back together(madara and obito)
he then tells the bijuus that unlike you were within me(rikudo=yin and yang)you will be led down the right path and know what true power is

Madara and obito became like rikudo giving them rinnegan(true power)you get the rinnegan by becoming rikudo(yin and yang)

when the sage's power is divided there's no rinnegan
Rikduo believes that true power is yin(elder son) and yang(older son) cooperating together and told the bijuus that there will be a day when they will know what that true power is

So he chooses the younger son with his idea of peace through love knowing that his descendants will cooperate together
Madara and Hashirama were the first chosen by fate now naruto and sasuke are the second

Kishi also said in an interview that naruto and sasuke are on the opposite sides of the yin/yang spectrum

What is your feeling toward Sasuke now that he has gone through drastic change throughout the series?

Sasuke is always in the corner of my mind. Naruto and Sasuke progress as a pair. So when I write about Naruto, I always have to think about Sasuke. They are on opposite sides of the spectrum, like yin and yang.

The sage wanted his son's descendants to cooperate together to bring peace showing the bijuus true power
not to become like him(yin and yang)and becoming the juubi's jinchuuriki and using it's power to boost their eyes to the next level, reflect it off the moon,and do the moon eye's plan=peace through power
