I have a weird feeling that the SOSP was'nt their alone when he or should I saw when they defeated the Juubi.
I think that the SOSP had a friend who was an Uzumaki that helped him, in fact he was the one who sealed the Juubi.
He knew that the only way to defeat the Juubi he would have to to sealed Juubi in his best friend that's the (SOSP).He used a sealing jutsu similar to the DEATH REAPER but more advance a complex, by doing so he sealed the Juubi along with half of his own chakra and half of this soul in the Sage Of The Six Path aka his best friend.At the cost of his own life he makes his best friend the first Jinchuuriki.

I don't think he's an Uzumaki, look at Mito, Kushina, Nagato and Kerin all of them have straight red hair except for Naruto but then again he's half Uzumaki.

Rikudou didn't have an Uzumaki bestfriend like what you say because he himself is Uzumaki.

I think what he meant was someone who was of the Uzumaki family but not the clan. Basically there was Uzumaki's back then but there was no clan made.

I wouldn't be surprised if the SO6P wasn't alone in dealing with the Jubi. There is always more to a story; like how we all thought Minato sealed Kurama on his own, turns out Kushina helped him out..
