With all these Minato VS. Itachi threads, I'm curious to see who was smarter. I don't give a shit about who's faster or stronger or FTG or Susanoo.

This is extremely debatable. Itachi thinks many steps ahead, as does Minato but pure perceptive ability and ability to deduce abilities, I give it to Minato.

A thought that minato was unsurpassable.Even jiraiya thought the same.Anko wished if minato was alive,they wouldn't be so terrified by orochimaru's sudden appearance in the chunin exams.

Minato was a prodigy like none other. I am not a fanboy, but Jiraya said this himslef, both are frigin smart, maybe the smartest, but i have to give this to Minato just because of Jiraya, but the way Itachi planned everything makes him imo the best of seeing things through.

I don't think it's ever explicitly stated how smart Minato was, or atleast not like how we know of Itachi's intelligence. They just stated Minato was a once in a generation genius, but that probably means battle smarts as well as intelligence. I'd say they're both pretty damn smart, and we can leave it at that =D

Well Orochimaru was said to be a once in a lifetime genius.

I have noticed Kishi uses the "once in a lifetime/generation" phrase a little more often than he should, it kind of defeats the purpose when you give that title to multiple people haha. But yea, I'd say Itachi, Orochimaru, Minato, Shikamaru and Shikaku are true geniuses, I don't think you can really distinguish between them and note that "this specific character" is smarter than any of the others. They are all damn smart, and at a certain point I don't think its really possible to distinguish.

All I can say is that these comparisons between Minato and Itachi are unnecessary. When Minato died, Itachi was little kid, they never fought each other and will never fight in the future. They both are strong, smart, cool, boss and etc. characters, but comparisons between them is meaningless.
