Obito's Kamui & Kakashi's Kamui

How come Obito has to grab someone before he can suck them into the other dimension, whereas Kakashi can suck someone into the dimension from a long distance (like he did to Deidara)?

Shouldn't their technique basically be the same? Obito even has an Uchiha body and can handle the Sharingan way better than Kakashi can. Why does he need to grab a hold of someone?

Yes they are the same but the eyes have different functions to operate kamui, when obito lost one of his kamui eye he lost certain function aspects of his kamui because each kamui eye holds its own advantage over the other.

kakashis kamui is faster and more long range

obitos kamui can send different parts of his body away
