Itachi is the better genjutsu user, no doubt. That is an interesting feat from Obito (if valid,) but there's much more hype regarding Itachi's ability, as his genjutsu was stated to be able to kill, control time, finish Bee, control Kabuto, take control of multiple ninja, and change the tides of an entire war.
We really only saw a fraction of Itachi genjutsu potential, unfortunately, but that's essentially his specialty. And in the same sense that you'll probably never see anybody out-speed Minato, you'll probably never see somebody out-genjutsu Itachi. The thing is, genjutsu is so broken/boring that the author very rarely uses it in battles.
