Isn't Obito better at genjutsu then Itachi?

Itachi is the better genjutsu user, no doubt. That is an interesting feat from Obito (if valid,) but there's much more hype regarding Itachi's ability, as his genjutsu was stated to be able to kill, control time, finish Bee, control Kabuto, take control of multiple ninja, and change the tides of an entire war.

We really only saw a fraction of Itachi genjutsu potential, unfortunately, but that's essentially his specialty. And in the same sense that you'll probably never see anybody out-speed Minato, you'll probably never see somebody out-genjutsu Itachi. The thing is, genjutsu is so broken/boring that the author very rarely uses it in battles.

Obito is good, I mean, it was probably him that taught Itachi to use genjutsu in such a skilled way in the first place, but I gotta say Itachi. The controlling a perfect Jinchuriki is nice, but Itachi has more feats with genjutsu plus that overpowered tsukyomi and Izanami. For all we know Itachi could control a perfect jin as well.

I'm gonna have to go with Obito on this one. Without his Mangyekou he genjutsu'd Konan almost instantly.

I think Obito just prefers to play the long game, be assured of his victory before going for the kill, so to speak, so he just doesn't pull out the genjutsu unless he knows it will suceed/help him achieve victory.

So he's like the Darkseid of the Naruto universe.

Although Obito has some great feats when it comes to Genjutsu, Itachi has more OP Genjutsu such as Kotoamatsukami, Izanami, and Tsukuyomi.
