Naruto is a given we all love naruto even those who hate him got love for him
His heart, and determination he is just awesome.
Kakashi is a given he is a genius and who doesn't love him.

That being said my three favorites cant include him

Itachi (he was the greatest ever his talent and knowledge off Genjutsu, Taijutsu, and Ninjustsu was superior to anyone before him arguably one can say the 3rd was the best ever having knowledge of a thousand Jutsu However with the power of the Sharingan he is superior. His dedication to his Bro awesome giving his life for his brother, and burden he had to carry is remarkable)

Shikamaru (will probably be Hokage before Naruto or if Naruto becomes Hokage who better to help him make descisions cause we love him but like Goku he is a dummy)

and Finally Sasuke
(He is yet to accomplish anything I am rooting for him but he seems soon he will become the new vilian, hopefully he will find his purpose and it is a just one. He is amazing very powerful it will take him some time to be as awesome as his brother. He seems to have found comrades that he has built a bond with)

Well, if we're talking in the timeline at the moment the general top 3 (power-wise) Naruto characters are 1.Madara 2. Sage-Naruto 3. Kakashi Hatake although had I to pick favorites they would be 1. Kakashi Hatake 2. Naruto Sennin and 3. Rock Lee (He needs to make a freaking comeback, it's been too long since we've seen him in the action and frankly, I miss Lee :(

Admittedly Naruto IS a given fav at this particular moment in the story-line. Hell, his entire village suddenly loves him. Shikamaru? Think about it. He might be brilliant but he hasn't done anything in particular to win him any votes from the Elders.

Sasuke just might revert to good in the very end thinking on several different reasons. 1. His reasoning for needing power quickly are gone. 2. Guarentedily if he came to the village he would be owned hard by Naruto (He took out someone Sasuke probably wouldn't even kill 2 bodies of Pein) (Yes I couldn't think of anything else at that particular moment go figure.)
