[Discussion] Oda is a mediocre artist and writer

Wow, I heard about the creator of one piece being sick so i thought id try and read one piece for the first time and boy is it shit, oda is a shitty artist with very basic talents and mediocre as a writer...i dont get why u guys like this?!! The art is terrible! And the writing isnt that much better either!

I swear the art and storyline in soutpark is 3x better than this.

Had you taken more than a cursory look at it, you'd realize that the illustrating improves and the storyline is intricate.
It starts off slow, but in the end... there is a reason why the Japanese love it so much. Don't bash Oda or his work.​

exactly how much did you read? cause to me, it sounds like you just looked at the cover and quitted the manga straight after.

He knows the art of story telling well and drawing style is something you get used to. There is humour, character quirks, fan service, and action along with a little stories to be solved in individual arcs besides the main ongoing plot which attracts targeted audience.

Not everyone liked action/adventure or the same kind of humour etc so you may not like the genre but then you are limited by your personal likes and dislikes.

If you weren't trying to insult anyone then you shouldn't have written the bolded segment.
It starts off rough because Oda was still figuring out what he wanted and the first several dozen chapters are buildup.​

Oda has created a great manga which I Find more enjoyable than naruto, especially since last chapter was just so god awful, Don't try cause a shitstorm because you want attention for 5 minutes.

You can't judge the mangaka/manga just by reading a PORTION of his work.

i read it every week and i don't really care for it that much......marine-ford war was badass and any parts having to do with ace or shanks i have liked......but the "individual arcs" tend to make it feel like a manga with fillers....and i don't like fillers.......the art is......um unique, not exactly my cup of tea either

i would give it a 5/10 overall

i will say it has some die-hard fans that love to bash kishi and naruto.....lol

That kinda explains it. He had no real ending for his story and just makes it up as he goes along, thats where.."the more well-planned" artist/writers like kishi surpasses him. I didn't mean to insult anyone, maybe I should've used better wordchoice

No, Oda has had an ending planned since the beginning. However, Oda wasn't sure of his approach.
Oda's story is far more "well-planned" than Kishi's story. Every little thing has a purpose later on in the story.​

To each his own. It may not be your cup of tea but to really compare the two writers/artists you need to study it more from a neutral POV. Oda has his Plus points just as Kishi. Let's leave it at that.
