Kishi is actually in debt right now "officially" even though he has some cash in the bank.
Cause of his house mortgage and some tax issues he is struggling... He's getting support from his dad. who is a doctor.
But yeah he is actually struggling right now therefore I feel as if we should support him by actually buying his mangas and stuff... but so hard to find mangas in New zealand... :'(
But the thing about this is that this is all bullsh!t so yes have a nice day and lets keep ripping kishi off cause he's probably richer than most of us here.

It depends how famous your story becomes.

This would probably only be by the manga. I believe Anime studio gives him some payments or he get sponsored as well perhaps.

Yup, it all depends on how famous your manga is. To prove this I can go ahead and post Toriyama's salary just to show you how much you can make if your manga is extremely successful.
