Not true to Genjutsu is nothing but manipulation of someones chakra. No need to physically touch them. Matter of fact no genjutsu user in the series has had to touch someone except for inzanami.

To break genjutsu you have to either do two things. Rouse your chakra high enough to where the genjutsu caster can't control it or have someone force chakra into you.

Someone of itachi level in genjutsu cant break his genjutsu on there own. The only way is to force someone chakra into you
