Naruto could fight him, Nagato did explain his past to Naruto. Yahiko and Naruto were very similar too seeing how they wanted to bring peace. Those two meeting would have been a better filler than a 10 year old crying.

I think he was a pretty cool character and wouldn't mind seeing him again at all. even as edo if the story needed it.
