part 1 hinata was a compelling character. always in the shadow of her siblings, she trained hard but could never manage to become strong. although very similar to naruto, she was introverted and very shy. her character is inspired by naruto and is driven to be better after seeing his will. some say her character was overly reliant on naruto to shape her personality, but I think at this point in the manga she still maintained her own personality. note that she did a lot of stuff without naruto directly being involved, like her back-story, fighting neji and the forest of death.
part 2 hinata spent three years training under mary, of the sue clan, has big boobs and exists only to ship with naruto. she basically just says the perfect things at the perfect time, and conveintly slips back into the awkward phase at kishi's whim. her character gets zero panel time away from naruto to develop like she did in part 1 so she's basically a cardboard cut-out at this point.
