Death Note's English Dub is one of the only anime that have lives to its Japanese counterpart.
Both L's sound very similar.I started out watching the Subbed version and i can tell you the transition to the English dub went off without a hitch. Both are highly recommend.

Death note is one of the rare anime in which I prefer the dub over sub. So I'd have to recommend dubbed.

That is not the case with every anime.
Especially with the voice cast of Death Note.
They even hired them for the live action death movies
You don't do that unless their is money to be made.

I finished the Death Note series in 2008 0_0 But I remember the subs being terrific. As usual in comparison with dubbed anime.

Death Note is one of the rare Anime's where the Dubbed isn't bad. At all. Death note and FMA are the only two Anime's I've ever watched Dubbed, and they weren't bad. They were actually pretty great, to say the least.

Otherwise, I always say subbed.

Subbed is usually better, however this is not always. E.g Dragonball Z, The dubbed is awesome and the subbed is awful!

Yeah for me too, light yagami's evil laugh was done better in the jap dub though xd
