Can Edos reach Sage Mode?

Being that Nagato still had all of the Rinnegan abilities including the ability to dictate over life and death, I assume Sage Mode is still possible.

although madara said the he cannot become a juubi jinchuuriki while being an edo, and the juubi is a mass of natural energy
you can interpret this as edo zombies not being able to accommodate natural energy inside them and then not being able to use sage mode

Sage Mode is a skill and power that a user learns through training. The upsetting the balance claim was a metaphorical figure of speech. What they mean by that is the Edo users are defying life/death and disrespecting the dead's right to rest in peace. At least that's my interpretation of the claim.
