Yes but Itachi wasn't on close terms with him, Itachi's hardly a psychologist and can analyse Hidan in the way we can.

You fail to understand hidan....He doesn't like pain, he hates it, when he got his neck sliced, he screamed and shouted .... he's a sadist, he gets off of DELIVERING pain onto others... even if it means hurting himself in the process...

Hidan still has the mental threshold as any other ninja.. Kakashi is a seasoned ninja, who would have trained to resist torture in case he was ever captured... You can train your tolerance to physical pain.. but mental is an entire different ball game... even the stronges of ninjas , raikages etc ,would still fall to the 3 days that Kakashi received.. hidan is no different.. and if he ever wants to kill him, he can simply make it 2 weeks to be sure

I'm confident Jiriya could've taken it. Not for any special reason, it's just that it's been proven he AND tsunade can take HELLA pain and keep fighting. They're hardened ninja, the best type to counter this.

Yeah but it's still worth it for him in that twisted psyche if he's so addicted to the thrill of surviving it. I just can't really think of much that would mess him up in a genjutsu.
