Never thought I would post anything as absurd as this.
Yesterday afternoon I experienced something that might be termed impossible.
Just to run by you, whenever someone leaves the house completely unattended they leave a TV on to make it sound like someones in the house, this is a normal occurrence.
I had recently just come through the door of my house, I was slightly tired from the walk up the road. I come in through the door and hear Sky news channel 82 freeview on through in the kitchen. Thinking nothing of it I proceed up stairs to my room. I spend 15 mins there abouts checking e-mails and web updates, after this I visit the toilet.
As I come out from the toilet I pause listening for the TV down stairs. I hear it for a few seconds before it stops producing sound shortly after this I hear what "sounds" like a door swinging closed. This suitably freaked me out, I armed myself and proceeded to search every room and hiding place in the house.
There was nobody in the house and every door Ie back and front door, even some internal doors are locked completely as I had not moved about downstairs hence all doors were more or less locked or closed.
What was completely impossible that I discovered was the TV in the kitchen, its set top box was on standby mode and the TV itself was showing static. This is impossible, I later checked with Betty the last person in the house that day if she put the TV on, she replied that she had put it on channel 82 (one of the most reliable signals).
I later experimented with the TV and set top box itself to figure out if what I saw was possible via power-cut or something else (which didn't happen that day anyway). I found out that it is impossible to go from a green light "ON" set top box to a standby mode with no external stimuli, IE you have to press the red button on the remote. If the TV and set top box is "ON" as in both, if you switch it off from say the breakers or the plug then switch it back on (trying to simulate a power-cut) said TV and set top box has memory of which mode it was in, hence switched back on to regular broadcast at channel 82.
So to recap, what I saw was quite simply impossible without external stimuli. I have a degree in Physics and Astronomy I pride myself on being as logical and rational as I can be, however I accept evidence when it occurs or if I am presented with it, I will not close my mind to so called "impossibilities" and dismiss them. I am not given to flights of fancy, if I was lying I would have made up something more extraordinary. This is just something very mundane with no possible explanation for how it happened. I know of no method by which what I saw was possible in any way.
If anyone has any suggestions by which I can test further or perhaps they have an idea of how it happened I am fully willing to pursue any line of thought.
One last thing, I am not wanting a bunch of people saying off the mark that its ghosts without explanation, please list any experiences of a similar type that people have had. Please no exaggeration I'd like to evaluate them for myself.
