Why do you believe

If you Believe in a god can you please tell me why? Is it because of some bible or because of how you were raise? Or is it because you need something to believe in

I grew in religion but as I got older I was able to make my own decisions which really doesn't include that matter anymore.

I believe I'm sorta agnostic. I truly don't believe that there is a way to PROVE that god exists. However I also don't think there is a way to DISPROVE that god exists. I do believe however in some sort of divine intervention. Like I will sill pray to a god when I want something good and sometimes it happens sometimes it doesn't. That's just my POV

That's cool. I was raised a Christian myself but I learned that everything you are raised to believe isn't always true. Especially Christianity but I'm not bashing you

I was raised that way, though i retain the belief in god and so on, the older i got the more it become a back seat thing in my life unfortunately.

Back in the 90s when I was religious, I used the Bible for their fables and learned the lessons they were conveying. Of course there were pretty weird ones like in Gomorrah where the lesson was "If God says not to look, don't look, unless you'll turn into salt.", but most of them had life-building lessons.

Now, the other majority of the Bible is dogma, where they instruct rules to abide by that are no longer needed in the modern world. We have women's rights, we have civil rights for minorities, scientific advancements allow us to develop medicine that do not require seances, we know enough about the universe to understand that the sun doesn't revolve around the Earth and that we are not in the center of the universe, and we are working on getting civil and equal rights for homosexuals.

Now we just need to wait for other intelligent species so we can fight on getting rights for them too.

XD I dont follow a religion, even though Im forced to go to church every sunday ~_~ But Im open to a god/heaven being available. Though I think the only thing that matters is if you're a good person or not

To me, it would make sense that there is a God. God to me, is the creator of all things, living and not. You may be thinking, where did god come from? Well in my opinion, that is a question everyone wants to know. We live in a world where everything has a beginning and an end and to think of something that MAY not have a beginning is inconceivable. Just because we don't know of god origin doesn't mean it exist. We live in a world where we need physical proof. Have you been in a presence of a ghost? I have, I was sitting the living room of my house and me and my wife were sitting there and we hear footsteps in the very room we are in. The house we use to live was small so there is nowhere to hide. You could hear whispers, voices, but you couldn't see nothing. So if there are ghosts, then why can't there be a god? I believe in god whether you do or not. I have prayed when I need him and he answers. I believe when you pray for something, you are given an opportunity to succeed. I'm not religious, just follow the guidelines of being nice to others.

Thank you for sharing and I have seen a ghost on two second occasions. But I want to ask you a question and I don't want you to take it personally but you say god has answered your prayer but do you honestly think god answered your own personal prayer when their is so much more chaos going on in the universe that he/she should be handling

What makes us humans so special is that we have free will and with that we have no restrictions. Things happen because of free will. People die because other people took upon their own hands to do a terrible deed. In the bible it even says god regretted making us. There is so much chaos in this world because of our own decisions. People who killed for power and sorry to say not everyone can be saved. Someone can come in here right now and slit my throat. The only thing I can do is pray that I can get out of the situation alive whether giving an opportunity to kill the person myself. But to answer your question, life is shit because we made it like that because people make decisions without considering the consequences. In those decisions, many may suffer, but it is up to us to actually do something about it to get out of those situations. God made us, gave us free will and let us be to make the RIGHT decisions by reading the bible. Yes, I believe in the devil too, but the ideas people get are retarded. The story is that when god made earth and yada yada yada the Lucifer (satan) believe that he can be just as good or better than god. God took up on that deal and would see at the end who would be more worshipped and praised. I don't know the time limit, I wasn't there. There is no fiery hell or whatnot but thats a diff story.
