[Theory] Gol D roger

Just before i start i would like to give a shout out to ZiggyZ for inspiring these idea's i am about to portray and give him a + rep
IF HE HAD A DEVIL FRUIT:
His devil fruit was the Yami Yami No Mi.

and here is why:

Has there ever been a Cliche moment in One Piece other than Protagonists somehow surviving or saving the day?
No.

So we can dispell all Mera Mera No Mi and Gomu Gomu No Mi theories.
Neither fruit has ever been mentioned to be Rogers power. Yet not a single mention of Roger came about.

Allow me to put things into perspective.

WBvsRoger happened A LOT. They where rivals to the bitter end , and i think Haki can only get you so far. Roger needed a very Overpowered Devil fruit power to compete with , tie with and defeat Whitebeard.

Blackbeards plan to become the pirate king was heavily involved with the Yami Yami No Mi , this may be because Roger previously had the same power he possesses now , the only difference is that Blackbeard may have experimented with it in ways Roger did not in order to become stronger by trying to take the Nullification of devil fruit powers even further.

He found out what it looks like , etc. Why would he need to do that? Because it was the Ultimate devil fruit power.The King of all devil fruits.
He could consume other devil fruit powers , nullify them etc. He seemed to know everything about the Yami Yami No Mi when he demonstrated its power to ace. Why? He experienced its power before.Name one deceased person other than Roger who has strength which is compatible with the Yami Yami No Mi , of course he wasn't fodder.

Not only this but he would make a great antagonist for Luffy , A man with the Pirate kings power is fighting Luffy for the title of Pirate king.

If this is true it is forshadowing that Blackbeard may be the King of the Pirates instead of Luffy , OR He becomes king of the Pirates and is then defeated by Luffy.

We know that Luffy got the fruit by finding in a safe that shanks had next to him. Now its been confirmed when ever someone die there devil fruit reappears. Roger died and his devil fruit reappeared in the world, Later Shanks found it and as the smart and great man he is, He knew it was Roger's fruit and decided to keep it hidden and not let anyone eat it. He then come's to see Luffy who said he wanted to be a pirate king and then ate the fruit of the pirate kind.
Coincidence ? I think not, I truly believe in my theory and Oda as the great writer he is am sure he has set this whole thing up to show that Luffy is the only person to match Roger and the first thing that showed it was getting the Gomu Gomu fruit.

i see what you are saying , but what are the chances of shanks buying said devil fruit at the loguetown market when there where thousands of people there and hundreds of stands

Roger > Edward >= Garp = Dragon > Shanks

Garp reached the very summit of Haki's power , and he could only capture Roger in his waning days before his imminent death , Garp was not the strongest of the two , Garp maxed out Haki and still wasnt the strongest in the world , why? Haki has limits too ; just like every anime power

I fail to see how people think Garp and Roger where equals in haki etc. they may have been , if that is true then why would Garp only be able to capture him in his waning days? BECAUSE HE WAS STRONGER. If they reached haki's limits then Roger needed a Devil fruit.

It doesn't really make much sense if he had a devil fruit, at least one we already know of. It would have been mentioned at least once throughout the series if he really had one.

Roger has had very little screen time , we need to see more of him if we are to learn about his powers

it is a writer technique holding information back from the readers making them want to read one piece more

Idk i mean if someone gets a devil fruit it could just be based off how much they trained their power with that fruit... i mean he could have just had a weird devil fruit and knew how to use it well...i mean Luffy didnt figure out a buch of the gomu-gomu no fruit's power until later on, but if Gol D Roger didnt have a devil fruit Just look a Dark king Releigh he doesnt have a devil fruit and was second on Gol D Roger's ship and was probably close to his level of bossness so its possible it could have just been will power with a great amount of skill. I mean Zoro is sick and has no devil fruit so he could very well just have no devil fruit as is.

are you aware of something called haki? it is pretty much all anyone needs to be strong

Blackbeard join whitebeards crew to find the yami-yami fruit before Rogers death so I don't think Rogers fruit ( if he had one) was the yami-yami fruit Blackbeard would have known it

Oda also writes devil fruits to kinda match the persons personality

Highlighted is very, very inaccurate. Not the summit of haki's power, the summit of his. Haki is willpower. Haki strength depends on the latter's willpower.

OT: Highly possible, but cliche. In my opinion, Roger had the strongest haki there is followed by something to match Gura Gura, maybe like cloning, or some sort of physical discharge such as gear 2 that causes your body to go in a state of hyper power.

- People would at least mention once that Blackbeard possessed the Pirate King devil fruit if Roger did consumed it.
- Blackbeard's reason for joining the Whitebeard crew was to search for Yami Yami No Mi.

Despite all that, I do find it odd how Yami Yami No Mi's existence are known; the same goes with all the devil fruits, of course - but the main point is, someone must've consumed the fruit before Blackbeard and that someone probably used the fruit to its fullest thus making Blackbeard's desire to gain the fruit even stronger.

I have my doubts on "gaining all the abilities via Yami Yami No Mi" because to me, Blackbeard probably ate a mythical zoan; Cerberus.

Two theories regarding it.

Via Darkness.

- He uses the fruits darkness to 'pull' the devil fruit powers from the user into its nothingness thus granting him the ability to use the fruits ability without harming himself.

Via Cerberus.

- Put a fruit near Whitebeard's deceased body and when the fruit turned into Gura Gura No Mi, he transformed into a Cerberus or pop only one head and that head consumed the devil fruit thus granting him the ability to use the fruit without harming himself.

But it's pretty obvious that the usage of Yami Yami No Mi must've at least helped in ways I cannot fully discover yet hence the importance of the fruit.

I'm too lazy to create a thread so I'll just say this on this thread.

- I believe the bald headed swordsman from the Gorosei consumed a mythical zoan; Asura.

- Bogart is the next Admiral.
