±± Ninja ±±
A ninja is someone who uses their full abilities in the service of his/hers beliefs, working to achieve a goal. This goal can be anything from peace to war, money, destruction, personal griefs or even revenge and can be shared with others or individual. Most ninjas are fighters and correspond to the bulk of the military force of the great nations. However, a ninja doesn't need to be a fighter. Even medics or a simple carpenter may, in times of need, use his abilities (medical knowledge or abilities in working with wood for example) to accomplish the goals he set to himself, following his beliefs.
±± Chakra ±±
Chakra is the energy that is formed through the passive combination of both the Physical and the Spiritual energies in a sentient being. Physical energy corresponds to the vitality of the body and its own energy. Spiritual energy corresponds to the mind or spirit, and comes from the awareness and "soul" of each sentient being.
Some ninjas have high levels of chakra because they have great physical energy (like the Akimichi or even Tsunade) and others because of their spiritual energy (like the Uchiha and the Yamanaka). However, its much more difficult to increase the spiritual energy than the physical one, thus why all ninjas pass through intensive physical workout.
±± Ninjutsu ±±
Ninjutsu, or Ninja Arts, is the ability to, through the use of chakra, accomplish tasks that would be otherwise impossible to do. Ninjutsu are done by molding the chakra and using it to produce the desired effect/technique. This is done by two basic principles: Shape and Nature Manipulations. These correspond to the two broad areas that one needs to change in the chakra to produce a jutsu. Shape manipulation pertains to the ability to give your chakra a desired form while Nature manipulation pertains to the ability to give your chakra a desired set of characteristics/properties. Sometimes, to better mold chakra, ninja use Handseals. Handseals are simply hand gestures that allow the ninja to more easily concentrate and mold the chakra into the desired technique.
±± Genjutsu ±±
Genjutsu, or Illusionary Arts, unlike ninjutsu, don't produce a real, palpable, feasible effect; it produces an illusionary effect. With a specific KG however, the illusions can become so strong that the body will be fooled into mimicking in real life the fake effects its perceiving through the illusion. There exists two types of Genjutsu: the passive, non chakra fueled ones (basically illusions to our senses like visual paradoxes and such which have little use in the RP and can be easily overcome through experience and logic) and the active, chakra fueled ones. Within the active chakra fueled ones two subtypes exist: Dojutsu fueled Genjutsu and Normal Genjutsu.
Genjutsu works by using chakra to disturb the chakra flow of the opponent, specially in the brain, altering his senses. By doing this you can make him perceive any thing his senses are capable of: pain, heat, cold, tickles, iching, etc etc. A ninja can make the opponent taste, smell, feel, see or hear anything he wants. However, because this is done by using your chakra to manipulate his chakra flow, the ninja needs to be close or, many times, have direct eye contact or even physical contact. This is the main limitation of Genjutsu: range. The further you are away from your opponent, the harder it is to induce the fluctuation on his chakra flow to produce the genjutsu.
How exactly does it work? Well, every one has a balanced chakra flow. The chakra flows in a balanced combination of both physical and spiritual energies. The ratio between them vary from person to person (that is how each person has a different chakra signature) but its always calm and balanced. To produce a genjutsu, a ninja uses his chakra to disturb that balance in a controlled way. A fluctuation is created in the persons chakra "wave length" and makes it fluctuate in a given way. This produces the illusion by scrambling the users link between his Spirit and his Body which effectively is the link between his mind and his senses. To make your chakra be capable of doing the correct fluctuation, you need to use, most of the times, handseals. These help you mold and shape and focus your chakra to the correct wave length you want to induce, thus enabling you to use it to disturb the targets chakra flow.
±± Taijutsu ±±
Taijutsu is basically Hand to Hand combat. Its composed of several disciplines and arts, the most used of which is called Strong Fist. Other types include for example, Gentle Fist. Taijutsu uses the body as a weapon to attack or defend against your enemy. Its powered by chakra but in a different way than Ninjutsu or Genjutsu, as you don't need to mold chakra to perform Taijutsu (as seen in Rock Lee's case). Chakra in Taijutsu acts as the fuel, powering the body through its moves, specially in terms of Physical energy. The main characteristic of Taijutsu is that it can be combined with several other areas of a ninja's arsenal, such as Kenjutsu or Ninjutsu (in this case producing Nintaijutsu). This makes Taijutsu the basic skill every ninja has to have.
Taijutsu can be advanced through mastery of the Eigh Inner Gates. These are "limiters" that exist within the chakra circulatory system and that regulate and limit the chakra output, keeping it at safe levels, thus keeping the body safe. Through intense training and skill, a ninja can unlock them gaining access to increased chakra output and, through that, increased physical power. However, doing so damages the body and may even lead to death.
±± Kenjutsu ±±
Kenjutsu or Sword Arts, are the skills regarding the use of swords in battle. Its in essence a more advanced variation of Taijutsu in which you use a bladed weapon (sword) to increase the letal capability of your attacks and to increase your defensive ability. Sword Arts vary greatly, perhaps even more than Taijutsu, and can, as the former, be combined with Ninjutsu or Taijtusu to increase its abilities and power.
±± Fuuinjutsu or Sealing Arts ±±
Fuuinjutsu or Sealing Arts, are a type of Jutsu that seals chakra, living beings, objects, energy, etc whithin another object through the use of kanji codes/spells.
Fuuinjutsu may vary greatly but most obey the same basic principle: You need a medium (living or not) in which was prepared the Kanji Codes/Inscriptions of the seal. You need to expend chakra to activate the seal and chakra to sustain it for a given amount of time. To release it, you must once again expend chakra to unlock the seal, while still needing the correct "key". The "key" is a variation of the technique only known to those who create it, thus disabling the probability of the seal being released by someone else; it can be a given set of handseals or even a DNA imprint (through a blood contract). However, even if most seals may work in this simple fashion, some more advanced seals work in many other ways. Even if you take into account that all seals must be triggered/fueled by chakra, they must all have a medium in which to seal away the target.
Because seals are fueled by chakra, they become weakened through time, as the chakra that was expended to create and maintain it, becomes consumed. Because of this, when sealing something in a living being, the seal is generally made to use the chakra from the being to sustain itself, delaying the eventual weakening.
±± Gogyo/Godai or The Five Natural Elements ±±
In Narutoverse exists 5 main energies in Nature: Fire (Hi), Earth (Tsuchi), Wind (Kaze), Water (Mizu) and Lightning (Raikou). Fire represents rebirth; destruction as a means for creation and emotions. Earth represents resilience, strength and durability; stability and bounds. Wind represents freedom, absence of regret and freedom of spirit. Water represents tranquility and peace; life and nurturing. Lightning represents wildness and boldness; its the element that embodies the desire to break free and to rebel.
±± Godai Seishitsu Henka or The Five Elemental Ninjutsu ±±
Elemental Ninjutsu correspond to the ability to manipulate or use the basic 5 elements for Nature through Ninjutsu, more specifically through Nature Manipulation. These correspond to 5 releases or styles: Earth Release (Doton), Fire Release (Katon), Water Release (Suiton), Lightning Release (Raiton) and Wind Release (Fuuton).
Each of these releases has a weakness and a strength towards another element:
-Fire Release is weak against Water Release and strong against Wind Release
-Wind Release is weak against Fire Release but strong against Lightning Release
-Lightning Release is weak against Wind Release but strong against Earth Release
-Earth Release is weak against Lightning Release but strong against Water Release
-Water Release is weak against Earth Release but strong against Fire Release
Now, we are here for Earth Release or Doton. Please, before we continue can you tell me anything more about Doton? For example, why is it weak against Lightning while in the other hand being strong against Water? What is the main use of Doton Techniques in battle? ^^

Earth is strong against water because earth naturally contains water or absorbs water to the point when it becomes muddy then dries up, also because earth structures can dissipate the force of water rendering the technique ineffective.
Earth is weak against lightning techniques because earth conducts lightning therefore it can easily travel through and break the ground apart an demolish earth style defenses.
Earth Release techniques have the ability to change the strength and composition of the earth from being as hard as metal to as soft as clay, as well as manipulating their density, making them heavier or lighter. This includes allowing the user to travel through ground and rock in various ways which can be essential for both transportation and for setting up attacks or creating defences.
I think this^^ makes earth techniques one of the most versatile of the elemental affinities. Aswell as pre-existing earth is not needed, for the user can create it with their own chakra.
So in closure I would say earth techniques have a well rounded offensive and defensive advantage in battles. Being able to meld into the ground and travel through the battle field gives an excellent advantage for attacks, where as the ability to manipulate the composure of earth to almost steel like density allows earth users to create near impenetrable defenses.

Hum... So let me ask this... if earth is weak to lightning because it conducts it, why isn't water weak to lightning as well?
Also, Ice and Storm have water in their composition so is that why they are strong towards water?
Pre existing source is not needed...well, it depens on the techniques don't you think? And, even if it would be like that, there must be a limitation in using earth, even with a nearby source to manipulate. Any ideas?

With earth the lightning breaks apart the composition of the sentiment as it travels through, where as water increases the intensity of the lightning making for a much stronger attack. Very different things.
To be honest Sensei, I haven't read that much on Storm or Ice KG so I couldn't say for sure why or how they react certain ways with the Sution element. If I had to guess I would say since storm release are beams of lightning it would travel right through suiting like regular Raiton increasing the damage. I would guess Ice would repel water sources or freeze them on contact.
While standing on say a water source ( lake ), I could still conjure a low rank technique like pillars to launch me or my opponent upwards, spikes or even defensive walls without the need of earth around me.

Earth is weak against lightning because its a GOOD conductor. Many things conduct lightning but only a few serve as good conductors. Now, the difference between earth as a good conductor and for example a metal is that earth has many impurities. Earth is composed of minerals and metals that on their own are good conductors, mixed with impurities such as water and organic matter. Lightning when facing earth "hops" from good conductive molecule to good conductive molecule passing through the impurities. As it does, it basically "destroys" the impurities. As it does, it fractures earth. This is the broad basic principle behind the weakness. If earth is the stable, resilient, unchanging, enduring element, Lightning is the salvage, freedom loving, rampaging, wild energetic element.
Now, Earth is strong against water because of its physical attributes. Earth is dense, solid in most cases, heavy. Water on the other hand is a liquid, doesn't have as much physical "strength" and is lighter. If you think of a river, a river is contained by earth shores. While the water will erode as time goes by, the truth is that its weaker and can't overcome the earth just like that. Its the earth that contains the water. In terms of pure nature or philosophy, Earth is the unchanging, resilient, "enduring" element were as water is the element of change and adaptability, molding itself according to circumstances.
What i mean to say is that its essential to understand the "why" behind a weakness and the "latus sensus" behind each element, basically the philosophy and principle behind each one. Earth is resilient, it gives form, its enduring, its stubborn, its resists change and its the element that gives substance to all organic elements and gives body to both the organic elements but also the stronger physical elements. Its probably the element that is present in more KGs. Wood, Steel, Lava, Blast, Sand, etc all have earth in their composition as the main element.
As for source, Earth can be spat out from your body, it can be summoned from a portal but in 90% of the techniques, it will be used by manipulating the ground nearby or within range. The limitation is that these 90% of earth techniques require you to be in contact with the earth to channel your chakra and as such be able to manipulate it. Some techniques, however, have been seen defying this principle. But these are rare cases and we will treat them individually.
As for uses, Earth is indeed a very versatile element. I believe that for a basic ninja, earth is the best starting point. Mainly because it offers the most escape techniques from all the elements, its a good defensive technique and its also offers a very broad variety of offensive techniques and it also has some good uses with Taijutsu. It the "core" element in our RP and you'll see that most rpears use earth as the basic element for their moves. Its a very very versatile and easy element to use. It does however have some weaknesses. First of all, in terms of projectile techniques its very limited, so if you are facing a flying enemy or a fast enemy, its not the best element to pin him or her down. It also tends to be more of a short to mid range element although it does have some of the most massive techniques in our RP. For the most part, its also not a fast element in the techniques it has. Its the slowest of the elements in general (Lightning>Wind>Fire>Water>Earth in terms of speed).
One thing its important to add and that i forgot is what Earth Element enables you to manipulate or do. You can manipulate Dirt (or soil/soft earth), Rock, Mud, Dust. But, using earth element, you can also manipulate weight, increasing or decreasing weight or harden your skin and body, giving it earth/rock like endurance. It also has been see to be an element possible to combine with chakra absorption properties and barrier/fuuinjutsu techniques. All of this pertains to the basic release (dirt) and the advanced releases (mud, dust, rock etc) and its supplementary releases (weight manipulation, body hardening, etc). All elements have advanced or supplementary releases besides its normal applications.

I feel as though you actually care about my knowledge of the elements, rather then just merely saying, "Do this....good, now this" as I've seen from other sensei/senpai's on the base. Needless to say I'm very appreciative to have this chance to better my understanding under your expertise. Now, my training is a bit different as i've been working with two good friends to make a faster, yet more in depth method of training.
As such, instead of grinding into you technique per technique, I'm going to teach you principles. And this works by dividing all the earth techniques into groups that share such principles or "methods of creation/performing".
So, for earth we have:
Method 1: Own Created
Method 2: Environment Manipulation
Method 3: Advanced Conversion
Method 4: Others
These are the four methods in this element. From this point on here is what we're going to be doing.
(1) I will give you the method and explain to you, in depth, what the method entails and then allow for any questions or clarrification
(2) I will give you bullet points of words/phrases that I will ask you to define/explain that will show me if you understand this method if I am satisfied with your explanations, we will continue. If not I will have you tweak them.
(3) I will then post all the jutsu within the category with full explinations and then you will have to do the following
~Explain the Advantages of the Method
~Explain the Disadvantages of the Method
~Discuss Strategies you could use with jutsu from this method
If I'm satisfied with these three aspects, we will continue and repeat the cycle from the top.

As such, instead of grinding into you technique per technique, I'm going to teach you principles. And this works by dividing all the earth techniques into groups that share such principles or "methods of creation/performing".
So, for earth we have:
Method 1: Own Created
Method 2: Environment Manipulation
Method 3: Advanced Conversion
Method 4: Others
These are the four methods in this element. From this point on here is what we're going to be doing.
(1) I will give you the method and explain to you, in depth, what the method entails and then allow for any questions or clarrification
(2) I will give you bullet points of words/phrases that I will ask you to define/explain that will show me if you understand this method if I am satisfied with your explanations, we will continue. If not I will have you tweak them.
(3) I will then post all the jutsu within the category with full explinations and then you will have to do the following
~Explain the Advantages of the Method
~Explain the Disadvantages of the Method
~Discuss Strategies you could use with jutsu from this method
If I'm satisfied with these three aspects, we will continue and repeat the cycle from the top.

Actually I have no questions about the training as of yet. This whole training method intrigues me an I can't wait to get started.
Tho before we get started I'll say that I recently accepted a new job which I'll be starting next week. This may limit my response time down from multiple times a day, to once or twice every other day. Does this cause a problem with the training time frame you have in mind?

Sit on top and cross your legs, making the snake or serpent handseal. This handseal is the one commonly associated with most earth techniques and if you place your hands like that you'll notice why. Its tangles and locks your hands together with strength and resilience, mimicking the properties of earth release. As you make this handseal while meditating try to mold your chakra into the properties and description i've been giving you so far for earth release and earth. As you do, release some chakra outwards from your body. The air around should shift a bit and the paper sheet beneath you should react if you managed to embue the correct properties.

As you finish your instructions I immediately sit cross legged on the sheet of paper. I close my eyes an begin to relax, listening to the sounds around the training field as I clear my mind of all worries. Next I interlock my fingers forming the snake handseal. I begin to focus on my chakra, I can feel it moving through my chakra coils. Once I have a fix on it i start pulling the chakra from my body's cells and my minds consciousnesses, slowly mixing them and stabilizing the chakra as I begin to try an mold it to the properties of earth. In my mind I start thinking of what earth nature is, dense..resilient.. heavy..stubborn... and its solid. I consider all of these properties an finishing molding my chakra to doton nature. Now I aim to impress you an begin to release it through a few of my tenketsu's causing the air around me to shift. An suddenly the chakra paper I sit upon turns to dirt in the center an starts crumbling away, directed outwards like a chain reaction until not even the edges nor corners remain.

Very Good but the amount of chakra is not nearly enough. I want you to affect all the paper sheets remaining in one go. Remember, you cannot control each energy (spiritual and physical) individually, the mix is done passively with no control from you so don't focus on that. Focus on gathering chakra at your core then molding it and then allowing to expand and be released.
Lets try and see if you can do it all in one go.
(Ha I thought I was only sitting on 1sheet I didn't read carefully enough to realize there was a whole stack under me, I recently read your hyuuga bio. In one of the comment you stated you wanted to learn gentle fist so you could teach I have a hyuuga bio waiting on approval. With further instruction from you I begin my second attempt. I start by clearing my mind an removing my frustration at failing my first attempt by concentrating on the sounds around the training field as it helped the first time. Once my mind is cleared I start focusing on my chakra coils again. After gaining a fix on the core of my chakra I interlock my fingers in the form of the snake handseal an begin to gather the chakra, before starting the process of manipulating it into doton nature. Solid....stable...dense....heavy....resilient.....stubborn. I repeat these over and over to myself as I feel my chakra changing in size an nature. Stubborn....resilient....solid...heavy....dense....an with the last word moved to the back of my mind, with a sudden scream of my inner monolog...stable! I release chakra from some of my tenketsu's even more than previous an allow it to pour outwards. The air around us drastically changes an the pile of papers I sit cross legged on becomes nothing more than a pile of loose dirt.

This can be helpfull in passive use or free form. For example, in Taijutsu, focusing your chakra and making use of earth chakra you can make your punches heavier and harder. This is purely description and is only valid for free form fightning but its a cool touch to add sometimes. You can also add your earth nature passively into a kunai or other ninja weapons. Earth Nature makes weapons heavier and enables them to have a bigger impact. Adding earth chakra to a paper tag (those of an explosive kind for example, used in free form fighting) can disable it by either making it crumble away or to make it petrify and then crubmle. Its important to know the baisc chracteristics of each element so you can use them into your free form attacks as well.

This method pertains to techniques in which you create your own earth through your chakra and from your body. You don't need eternal sources of earth, contact with the gruond nor any restriction. Its simply you, using your chakra, and creating earth. Normally in Earth techniques this is made in 2 ways. You either spit or exhale mud or dust, basically using your breathing as the medium to mold your chakra and expel it or you simply release it from your skin, forming rocks that apparently grow out of you.
All of the tehcniques we will learn are based in this simple principle and all obey this simple premise. But all are different and some have more unique traits.
So to start, inhale as you do these handseals *shows them* and focus your chakra on your chest, molding it in your lungs (into earth like we learned) and mixing it with the air, exhaling in return. You'll notice that, because you are mixing it wiht your breathing, its not hard but rather liquid. This is because you are sptitting out Mud, a specific form of earth release.
