Ever watch the anime Soul Eater? There's a character called Medusa who is basically just sexier Orochimaru. Her plan was getting the two big forces to fight each other and destroy each other so she could intervene at the end and destroy them both, ultimately getting EVERYTHING. She even seemed to team up with the good side and everything.

Either way, Oro is way too insightful to just change motivation like that. Since when has he been interested in whats best for Sasuke, didn't he kill him? I mean Oro basically KNEW who Tobi was, it's not unlikely that Oro has an entire plan for everything. I think there's something Orochimaru isn't telling us. Or they're all playing into his hands.

The manga is/was better. But I agree, Orochimaru is most likely plotting something for right after the war, or not too long into the future. The guy always has a plan or plot to hatch.
