Was just re-watching the Jiraiya vs. Pain fight and realized Jiraiya could have survived if he wanted to (although I realize this would screw up the story and not allow Naruto to grow and get stronger after the death of his teacher).

When Jiraiya wanted to go back up one more time to simply get a look at the faces of the 6 Pain's, he could have easily sent up a shadow clone instead of risking his life. The shadow clone would have disappeared once attacked and the knowledge still would have been transferred to the real Jiraiya and he could have escaped easily IMO.

He was using Shadow Clones all throughout the Pain fight when he was trying to bide time until he could summon the 2 Elder frogs for Sage Mode.

I thought the sharing of experience was solely Naruto's ability. Remember back when Naruto was training his wind nature, they'd as to explain it to him in a different way. Kakashi and Naruto sent out a shadow clone each and they played rock-paper-scissors to see who would pay for ramen. Naruto knew who won, but Kakashi didn't, well straight off anyway, Naruto told him with a snicker.

So no, I don't think he could have done it that way.

no even kakashi knew the result hence he said '' what was he thinking making a bet like that '' this is addresses towards his shadow clone

To be HONEST, at first I had thought he would:scorps:

Asura Path troll was too out of the blue, and dropped his chances down to zero=D

Oh wow, your right... I didn't think of that lol.

He was down to one arm, so maybe he couldn't even use an jutsu if he wanted to.

Jiraiya was so boss, that even when he dies, he dies with a perverse style!

Yeah you'r right, but indeed that would have made the story a lot worse.
