The Subset of Air bending

What do you NB'ers think could be a subset of air bending?

Allow me educate you in the ways of how the subsets of bending works;

The subsets of bending works by manipulating the original bending arts in order to create a new form of bending. A sub set of bending can also be created by the elements nature or the opposite of it.

Blood bending; (Sub set of water bending) How it works is by manipulating the water in the individuals body. (Still water bending)

Healing; (Sub set of water bending) Water is calm, harmonious and replenishing.

Metal bending; (Sub set of earth bending) How it works is by sensing the earth fragments inside the metal and using earth bending to bend those earth fragments thus bending metal with it. (Still earth bending)

Seismic sense; The ability to detect vibrations in the ground - a sub skill of earth bending to constitute for physical sense.

Lightning generation; (Sub set of fire bending) Also known as "cold blooded fire" - In the Avatar world it is opposite to what fire is; life and industry, comforting and creative.

So what will be the subset of Air bending?

Sound bending; By using air bending to amplify sound waves. A demonstration of this was when Aang used Airbending to amplify the sound of the whistle to call back all the animals through out the whole city of Ba Sing Se.

Gravity manipulation; By controlling the density of the air/wind around them, they can perhaps crush people around them by forcing a heavy flow of air upon them or levitate them.

I know, there's not much "it" can do, can it? xD But perhaps the writers of LoK will surprise us... I hope it's something amazing.

gravity manipulation sounds cool maybe even a vacuum technique which could help against firebenders. need air for fire and living xd

Neither of the things you just listed could be considered subdivisions of airbending. Your example is flawed because it required a whistle. Because of Aang's airbending powers, he could sent much more air through the whistle, resulting in stronger sound. Without the whistle, there is nothing so how could that be considered a special form of airbending? Unless they use themselves as instruments, still then I only see them making lots of noises.

Your 2nd example makes even less sense. Air has nothing to do with gravitation as far as I know nor is what you explained gravitation. Airbenders can manipulate wind currents and as such can already levitate to a certain degree. The only thing that's different between 'solid' air and normal airbending, is that solid air is static, but what's so special about that?

Then I would be more inclined to go towards vacuums.

Like Caliburn, I think that a subset of airbending would have something to do with creating vacuums around/near a person or object. The only other thing I can think of is if it has something to do with pressure. Take away air= vacuum. Alter the density of air= pressure.
