It makes perfect sense actually. You can see how Ichigo has 2 bonded holes in his chest right? That's his Shinigami soul and Hollow soul being bonded together. Whereas Ulquiorra only has one big hole because he's only a hollow. That was why Aizen was so interested in him.


Side note: Quincies can manipulate Reishi, and by doing so Ichigo would be able to control his inner hollow and put the Vasto Lorde form on at will. That's why Aizen said "I'm dissapointed, you haven't evolved", because he expected Ichigo to have Quincy powers and be able to control his hollow powers with the full body form. As a Shiba with Quincy, Hollow and Shinigami powers it would be the perfect test subject for Aizen. A challenge he'd never thought would exist, like a god lol.
