They didn't asked for it, did they? Yet they (or at least, he is proud of himself/) are proud of theirselves.

They could surgically attach artificial limbs, but they wouldn't be functional. At some point in the future, it's possible that our technology will be good enough to do so. However, it may not happen in his lifetime.
