what is the will of the "D" in one peace. also wondering how the people like luffy and rogers got the letter D in there names

well i was hoping it to be cooler and something to do with luffy being related to gold d rogers or luffy inherited Rodgers D and usually people get told there name and thats why they say the d when they say there name to someone, is it just that there compelled into saying the D and not even noticing when they say it lol. i mean someone in the family's ancestry must of known and passed the name down

but yeah it did help haha

Sorry but we don't know much about it. I don't think Luffy is related to Roger for the reason that Marshal D. Teach (Black Beard) also has the D.

since this is in the naruto section, I might as well add, that the mystery of the D, is so much bigger than Tobi's identity or whatever in Naruto, that Oda better get it spot on with all those readers =D although I have no doubt, he already knows, what it is

But my guess is, that once upon a time, a lot of people came from a certain village. All the villagers had the so called "D" in their name. It probably stands for the village name. Nonetheless that was the most powerful village of the most powerful country in the world, and at some point everyone else formed an alliance against them, so some of them escaped and spread into the world, which is why people are still having the "D" in their name. So this doesn't put Luffy and Black beard in family.

The true secret, is what this village (the void village as some call it) was, and what made it so powerful. Perhaps the true secrets of the "D" is in the treasure. Knowing it makes you the pirate king. Well, we can make many guesses, but hope this helps =D
