Susanoo - A Rare Power to obtain

I'd like to point out a few things since many people believe that everyone with a MS can use Susanoo, including Obito and Shisui etc.

"To awake Susanoo you need to have the Mangekygo Sharingan in BOTH eyes, its the third power." - Sasuke
"I like to stock up on good eyes, being capable of awaking the Susanoo is rare." - Obito
"Incredible, you also became able to use this technique." - Itachi respodning to Sasukes Susanoo

Paying attention to those statements, its easy to say that Susanoo is not a regular power that everyone with a MS obtain. It require that you have the Mangekygo in Both eyes which means that Obito and Kakashi will never have a chance in getting it, but thats not just it, even if you do have Mangekygo in both eyes its still not 100% sure that you will awake it. Its a rare power.

So far I believe that the only Uchihas that awoke the Susanoo are just Madara, Itachi and Sasuke.

Why is everyone fixated on how this power us obtained? Obito hasn't shown it, therefore untill proven otherwise, he doesn't have it.

I believe the reason the sasuke has it is just because of his brother planting the Amaterasu in him and he Ms ability involved Tsykunomi so that's how he got both I think.

It is a rare power, however the requirements are pretty simple (in the current manga standards). You just need 1 pair of MS. Thats it. If you unlock the MS in both eyes you unlock Susanoo. The reason why its a rare tech is because MS is said to be rare. The only people known to unlock MS is Madara, Izuna, Itachi, Sasuke and Obito. 5 Uchiha out of the entire clan (that we have been shown). This is the thing people misunderstand: Susanoo is rare in the grand scheme of things, but it isnt rare from what we've seen because we have *coincidentally* only seen the 5 people who have unlocked MS. Obito doesnt have Susanoo because he doesnt posses a complete pair of MS. If he took Kakashi's eye back, then he would unlock Susanoo. Izuna most likely had Susanoo as well, up until he lost one of his eyes.

Itachi only implanted a defense against Obito if he ever saw his Sharingan. Thats why Itachis Mangekygo appeared when the Amaterasu got unleashed at Obito. Sasukes MS posses the ocular power to control the Black flames of amaterasu. He can manipulate the shapes and forms to turn them both defensive and offensive. Thats also why his Susanoo is half covered with the black flames in his EMS state.

You raise some interesting points. I'm going to try and debate these points a bit. Sometimes, taking a negative outlook can really help make a theory stronger. The more I think about your theory, the more it seems like there's a good basis. I do feel that you might be extrapolating the data a bit too far and also that your basis isn't as strong as I'd like it to be. I'll take an attacking viewpoint towards your logic and go over the statements one by one.

For one thing, Itachi's statement doesn't necessarily indicate that the power is rare. Did he really have all the information on the Mangekyo or did he just gain it from Tobi (making it unreliable, possibly). I do admit that he could've learned about it from someone else, say Shisui. Still, that statement by itself doesn't add much to your argument. It does however lend credence to Itachi's reaction to Sasuke's Susano'o.

Obito might have been stocking up on sharingan eyes so that he could have the second eye which is required to use the Susano'o. Note that this doesn't mean that he'd have to try again and again with different eyes. It could just be that having the second eye would allow him to use it. However, I have to wonder if the implanted eye gives him MS automatically (or could it give him EMS?). Obviously, this is just wild guesswork. More to the point, can we be sure that the Susano'o was indeed a rarity because not every eye was capable of awakening it? It could be rare for other reasons as well, for instance, not everyone got a Mangekyo Sharingan. I can't debate Obito's statement much. It is a solid point in your favor. Also, how sound was Obito's information about the Mangekyo? I tend to think he learned about it from Madara rather than from his clan. I'm not sure he'd have full or hundred percent accurate information on all aspects, though he probably knows almost as much as Madara himself on the subject.

The point about needing the Mangekyo in both eyes doesn't really indicate immediately that Susano'o is rare. Still, I should imagine that it would be fairly common to lose an eye for ninja. Still, there isn't really any proof of this. We haven't seen a lot of one-eyed Hyuga around, have we? It could just be that they're better at combat, but I don't think that is the right answer. I'm sure the Uchiha valued and protected their eyes a lot. As a side note, it is ironic that Obito who wore goggles (ostensibly to protect his eyes) lost one of his eyes by giving it away? As a further aside, given that he can (at least sometimes) see through Kakashi's eye, it is a good thing that Kakashi kept it covered, he could've learned a lot of high level secrets about Konoha (probably did learn a lot in canon) that way. He could even confirm Zetsu's observations to some extent. I wonder why he didn't notice Kakashi's death though...Or he might have noticed it and never stated it. Anyway, getting back on topic, I tend to think that requiring both eyes to be Mangekyo and possibly also that their powers should be awakened doesn't necessarily add to the rarity aspect.

I hope my points help strengthen your theory, or to come up with a better one. I really think you have a point, to be honest. There really needs to be no new theory here, just maybe a shoring up of this one with any more evidence you can find. Thanks for sharing it.

There have only been less than 10 people that have the mangekygo sharigan so we cannot base it on them having it in both eyes.

The manga has only stated one requirement to obtain Susanooo; MS in both eyes, that is it. So we can safely assume until proven otherwise that anyone with MS in both eyes has or had susanoo.Izuna and Shisui Uchiha included.

JaffaTalk, your idea is an intriguing one. I've often suspected a genetic link between Itachi, Sasuke and Madara. I should really take the time to investigate that. I don't spend time theorizing about the Uchiha, or even collecting facts about them. But to write good fanfiction, I should know about them as well. So I've been trying to be active on these Susano'o threads today, as a first step.

Itachi only implanted a defense against Obito if he ever saw his Sharingan. Thats why Itachis Mangekygo appeared when the Amaterasu got unleashed at Obito. Sasukes MS posses the ocular power to control the Black flames of amaterasu. He can manipulate the shapes and forms to turn them both defensive and offensive. Thats also why his Susanoo is half covered with the black flames in his EMS state.

I'm pretty sure that being covered in the flames of Amaterasu isn't the default state for that Susano'o. I think the simplest and best explanation is that he did that himself. He can control those flames well, and he isn't limited like he was before. We've seen him do it before too; during the Kage summit!

I tend to agree. Itachi did say that the Mangekyo is rare and many members of the clan killed each other in attempts to get it and failed. Did anyone else confirm that the Mangekyo is rare?

I see. The Yin and Yang aspect is rather compelling in its elegance. Still, this is just speculation since we can't confirm it. The basic idea is very cool though. I'm not sure yet, but I think this might be something I work into my story as well. Would you be okay with my borrowing the Yin and Yang thing? I'll notify you if I write it (only if you allow me).

Interesting! This is one of the most intriguing ideas I've heard. There's no way to confirm it, unfortunately. However, I like to write fanfiction when I'm free. This kind of thing is gold!
