just recently ive been thinking is it possible that kakashi may not have actually killed rin at all but what we see in the chapter is kakashi breaking obitos promise to protect her

what im trying to get at is maybe a mist ninja killed rin but obito sees the mist ninja as kakashi killing rin, as kakashi never protected her so obitos mind played tricks with him so to obito, kakashi not protecting rin is the same as killing her also this may explain why obito says "you let rin die"

the only thing im not certain is what the mist was after when it comes to rin which could disprove my theory but i cant understand what reason kakashi would kill rin for and if she was a mist spy why would she be buried in konoha and i dont really see her being a spy but who knows

because kakashi was the only one that found it out and he didn't say a thing to leaf therefor they didn't know and also he did it from respect cause she was his comrade and he did promised obito he will protect her so at least he can give her a proper burial

The reason is simple,they were visually linked.The fact Obito said "You let Rin die"was because he couldn't accept the reallity that Kakashi was the one who killed her.
