This is a longshot but hear me out =D
Juubi was divided in half.
It's sinister chakra passed down to the Uchiha. This gave access to Sharingan, Dojutsu that is considered somewhat evil. Madara was able to unlock the Perfect Susano'o which is infact the chakra of the Juubi. No body, just chakra.
It's body was passed down to the Senju. Giving them the strong body that we know that they have. Hashirama was the one, just like Madara, to unlock the final stage. Giving him the ability to summon the Shisuusenju, body of the Juubi. No chakra, just the Body.
To make this plausible, we have to assume that the Gedo Statue is a modified version of a incomplete Shisuussenju, stolen by Madara and powered by Hashirama's cells. I read a thread about this and it was quite convincing. There is a link between the thing in Juubi's back, the hands in Shisuusenju's back and those cut off branche's in the back of the Gedo Statue.
