Yea it was more darker than Naruto that's for sure. Reminds me of his brother's mangas.

Have you read his brother's, is it good? If it is, I might give it a read, I'm willing to bet they have similar art when it comes to drawings.

Is it only me or even someone else thinks Mario looked like Yamato and Saori like Sasuke.... XD XD

I kinda felt like Mario looked more like Obito now..
I do think Saori resembled Sasuke in a sense, she really resembles Sasuke's mom.

There will be more chapters of Mario, but it won't follow this storyline. This was just an one-shot.
And, I liked this one-shot tbh. The story and art were pretty good.

so it can't continue from that chapter. If Kishimoto does make Mario, it'll most likely be different than the one-shot was.

I was pleasantly surprised. However I have a few issues.

Number one, this is wicked bloody and incredibly cruel. And although kishimoto does like to add that gory aspect, he's also all about love and friendship.

Edit: And by that ^, I mean he may run the risk of flip flopping.

Also the name Mario needs to be changed. Way too common and it'll make it harder to distinguish his series. Other than that, nice setup. Not sure if Kishi is the type of guy to write something like this continuously, but I hope he does put this out when Naruto is finished. It's no secret he has wanted to do this series for a very long time, and maybe now that the one shot is done, he can dedicate all his time and effort to Naruto.

There was speculation when it was announced that this might act as a pilot for his next series, but for now it's just a one-shot, which means it's a single, self-contained story.

According to the interview, he wrote Mario when he was considering switching from shōnen to seinen, so the tone and subject matter is aimed at an older audience than Naruto. He had originally intended to submit the rough manuscript to Super Jump, Shueisha's seinen magazine at the time (has since been replaced by Ultra Jump). The managing editor from Weekly Shōnen Jump asked him to try submitting at least one more shōnen series before switching to seinen, and Kishimoto wrote the Naruto pilot. The rest is history.
