In chapter 616 and 617 I believe Naruto said a shinobi was someone who endured and pushed through. It also means to "hide" so... Damn, I picked Naruto but it's actually Itachi. Lol, true Shinobi.

Shinohi were warriors who fought using guerilla tactics, subversion, sabotage, and manipulation.
