this is arguable.... lightning style in naruto works with piercing power.... kirin wasnt piercing power it was just a huge force coming down with a huge area of impact meaning less dammage per square inch kiring isnt a traditional piercing move at that size suanoo being a replication of huge bones would be good enough to abosrb any direct dammage while any extra lightning would be grounded into the earth
