Honestly I think a few things contribute here.

1. If what the evidence suggests, that he is an Uzumaki, then he had immense chakra reserves like Naruto and Nagato (Who probably rival a Bijuu in their own rights given their own chakra feats)

2. He had very powerful sealing weapons. The most prominent one shown was the Staff. I believe that is a large piece in what helped him seal the Juubi.

3. Again, going off the Uzumaki premise, then he would already be good at sealing. Combined with his legendary sealing weapons, the Juubi would be inevitably sealed.

Sealed and soloing are two different things though. He became the God he is known to be after he sealed the Juubi.

I'm pretty sure a healthy Nagato or current Naruto (With Rinnegan) could make a CT the size of the moon as well. It all has to do with the Uzumaki chakra reserves
