I disagree, people hate on this fight a lot but IMO it's still one of the best of the entire series, the fight was untamed and fluid, it had spiralled so out of control that the animation changed to fit this in the most fluid and motional way possible, representing the loss of sanity because of the Kyuubi, it suited the fight.

Still one of the top 5 fights.

The pain fight was brilliantly done in the manga itself. Rhino toss, shinra tensei, the freaking toads.

Plus Naruto used a fair bit of strategy to get it done right. I felt the animation crew did a half-way decent job up until Naruto went 8-tails. That was fluid, but artistically speaking I have no clue what they were trying to pull off.

One of (if not the) best fight in the series deserved a much better budget.

Nah, the animation just went of disarray, just plain no effort to the eye of the beholder, looked cheap and rushed into finishing the fight.

Don't get me wrong, Sage Mode Naruto Vs Pein was epic, but the animation crew just gave up when Naruto transformed into becoming the 8 tails, to me at least.

I completely disagree, they clearly didn't just 'give up' as it was the most climactic moment of that arc and the sudden animation change was obviously trying something new. It couldn't have been lazy because it took a lot more animators and money to make that scene- it just tried a different direction, one that the craziness of the 6 tails totally fitted but all other people see are a bunch of dumb pain faces in it which has always got to me. It is so obviously done on purpose because it's more prominent in the scenes where Pain totally loses his shit.

The worst fight scenes imo are the ones in the first arc of shippuden the anime is almost .. staticy . and not as fluid ... Idk maybe its just me but i did not like how deidara.Vs gaara looked /
