I wouldn't say goku didn't do anything intelligent, he is a master martial artist and has a superbrain in terms of fighting. however you are right, he isn't to bright.

then again niether is naruto. though i guess Naruto did get through ninja academy which might be a harder kind of education then Goku. But remember Naruto couldn't even answer a single question on the test in the chuunin exams? (except for the last one)

so it depends on what type of education goku recieved, if Roshi drilled him with questions then Naruto's exam then Goku is more intelligent, if it wasn't Naruto would win.
