Jiraiya , the title character of the Japanese folktale Jiraiya Gōketsu Monogatari ("The Tale of the Gallant Jiraiya"), is a ninja who uses shapeshifting magic to morph into a gigantic toad. Originally also known as Ogata Shuma Hiroyuki. The heir of a powerful clan in Kyūshū of the same name, Jiraiya fell in love with Tsunade, a beautiful young maiden who masters snail magic. His arch-enemy was his one-time follower Yashagorō (夜叉五郎), later known as Orochimaru, who mastered serpent magic ( literally mean "giant snake" or "serpent").

if this is the real story why did kishi changed the theme in naruto.. iwould rather prefer this....

All of Naruto is based around ancient myths, from jutsu, to characters.

Why he didn't copy word for word? It'd be unoriginal and I'm not sure if you can plagiarize stories that are thousands of years old... but yeah that too.

Yes the narutos story is pretty much based on ancient myths and gods if he went exactly according to the myths the story would just look totally ****ed up

well if he copied the entire story then he wouldnt have much freedom to do what he wants with the story and it wouldnt truly be kishimotos so just like how eiichiro oda took names of real pirates and adapted them in his own way kishimoto did the same with some famous ninja like

zabuza momochi i believe was a famous ninja

sasuke sarutobi (the 3rds father) was a famous ninja

also the 7 swordsman of the mist could be kishis version of the 7 samurai or warriors cant quite remember the name

so by just taking bits from old storys kishi is able to make it into how he wants
