Hey everyone, Moe22 once again =D I was recently re-reading some Katekyo Hitman Reborn! (I recommend it btw) But I noticed something very strange. I know Shonen Jump manga-kas look to get inspiration from author manga-kas, but this is too similar.
I'll start of by giving a quick intro to Daemon Spade to non-KHR readers:
He was the first generation Vongola Mist Guardian who helped form the vongola but later betrayed Vongola Primo in the past. He is a powerful and dangerous illusionist that has been known to place a curse of death on people whom he had glared at through his lens. He served as the main antagonist in the Inheritance Ceremony Arc.
Now I quick intro to Madara Uchiha:
He was a legendary shinobi who led the Uchiha clan prior to, and after the formation of Konohagakure. After allying with his rival, Hashirama Senju and the Senju clan, he and his clan helped in the founding of Konoha. After being reincarnated by Kabuto Yakushi during the Fourth Shinobi World War, he becomes one of the main antagonists in the series.
Very similar I know, however there are many similarities between Obito and Daemon as well:
Both Madara and Daemon were considered legends responsible for forming their respective groups (Vongola and Konoha) And both were thought to have died long, long ago, much to everyone's surprise.
They also both wish to sacrifice their successor (Obito and Mukuro) in order to destroy the world:
Also many very similar events occured during their battles:
In terms of the similarity between Obito and Daemon they both have one ulterior motive:
These subtle resemblances leads me to believe Kishi is taking inspiration from Akira's work. There are also many plot resemblances.
For example the two former friends of the protagonist that went evil:
Joined the protagonist in order to defeat Madara/Daemon:
Also, I forgot to mention the fact that Daemon and Madara has ultimately pure motives that they plan to go forth in an evil sort of way:
In conclusion: I think these two characters are way too similar to be a coincidence, and I hope to have shown this to people who aren't as much of KHR fans as I am! Perhaps Kishi will continue to use KHR as inspiration and Madara will suffer a similar end as Daemon. Thanks for reading and leave a comment on your thoughts ^_^
