After getting trolled with Tobi's identity I am not going to consider anything as cannon atm if it happens it will be awesome but considering the screen time, co-ordination and development Naruto-Sakura had Naruto-Hinata is pale in comparison to it. So lets hope most of the fan base is happy since its impossible that all the fans would be happy with the pairings.

Tobi's identity was not a troll. It's foreshadowed basically every time Kakashi remembers the past and Obito. His "Tobi" persona was also a dead give-away... his behavior was a comical representation of his life as Obito while his name plays off of a Japanese 'proverb' that says: "From a kite, a hawk." Basically - from a 'nothing' to a 'badass.'

It's exactly like the Yin and Yang Taoist background that Naruto and Hinata have shared since the beginning. The same mentality that calls Tobi's identity a 'troll' is the same one that calls 615 "fanservice."

The things Kishimoto seems to make up on the fly are some of the abilities and how to 'balance' them: "Naruto, you can't make a bunch of shadow clones or the fox will consume you."

"Okay, Ima make a bunch of shadow clones and save everybody!"

I think the "powers" in Naruto have grown well beyond his original ideas (though the tailed beasts started out super OP and the main character has one sealed inside of him... so maybe not). But a lot of the key characters and backstories are not thought up on the fly or 'trolls.'
