Xbox live isn't a waste of money to me. It comes down to personal preference.
And no it's not bad it helps the website (That you go on *cough* *cough*). If you don't like premium simply don't buy it.

Internet serves multiple purposes.

The library is not always open to our convenience. You can read bank statements online, instead wasting paper.Buy needed items that cannot be found in local/nearby stores. Internet is much needed. Way better than wasting paper, and having to risk ripping/losing books. Look up health problems without driving to the hospital, and wasting gas(gas prices have gone up, if you haven't noticed).

Also contacting other people faster. Instead of waiting 3-4 days for a letter from a bird or a horse.
