[Predictions] Sasuke is trolling: His real answer

Looking back at Sasuke's character throughout this entire manga, he's consistently been negative, selfish and really one-dimensional about the Uchiha clan. We see his angry face react to Tobirama's words more than once, although he says nothing...

As usual, NB has totally misunderstood Sasuke's character. He has NOT given up on revenge. Nor has he forgiven the village. This is an expression of barely contained rage. Sasuke hasn't forgiven the village. Nor has he forgiven Danzo, Hiruzen, the elders or Naruto. The reality is that Sasuke realizes that taking revenge now will mean nothing. Madara will just cast Infinite Tsukuyomi and end everything. His first goal is to stop Obito/Madara and then to crush the village.

Let's also realize that Sasuke had Orochimaru wanting his body on one end and the Hokage in front of him on the other. He had no choice but to play it cool and pretend to not want revenge anymore. Once the main battle is over, I think Sasuke will turn on the alliance and have his own goal of dominating the village, to seize the title of Hokage from Naruto and to think "I deserve this, because of what Itachi went through".

Sasuke is way too negative and selfish to do an about-face like this. Even Itachi predicted his words wouldn't get through to Sasuke and that Naruto would have to save Sasuke. He realized that Sasuke would probably resurrect Orochimaru to get answers. One thing consistent about Sasuke's character is he's been unable to get over the past. Sasuke rationally considering the future makes absolutely zero sense for his personality.

Either Kishi's become an incredibly piss poor writer, or Sasuke is trolling us. I vote for the second.

Sasuke had no reason to lie to Tobi when he said this. Nobody lets go of that sort of hatred over the course of two days, just because they talked to some zombies in a cave. Sorry guys, it's bad writing for Sasuke to just decide to give up on revenge. Sasuke had every reason to lie to Orochimaru and the Kage, if the Hokage thought that Sasuke intended to destroy Konoha they would act against him and Orochimaru would try to take his body. Instead Sasuke plans to meetup with Madara and Obito and work with them to destroy the village, or possibly to prevent the moon eye plan and then take his revenge. Sasuke never said in this chapter that he's "good now" or that "he forgives the Leaf" or that "I've given up on revenge". That's all the speculation of morons on NarutoBase. The reality is he's deciding to play it safe and stop Obito for now. We have no idea what he will do after that.

Let's also consider Itachi's words to Sasuke. He said that he knows his words will not get through to Sasuke, and he told Naruto that he leaves Sasuke to him. In other words, he knows he cannot change Sasuke at this point. This is an obvious act on the part of Sasuke.

He just doesn't want the entire world to disappear, because if it does it makes his revenge meaningless. Once Obito and Madara are dealt with, he will turn on Naruto and the alliance and attack them. Nobody lets go of hatred just because Hashirama explains the backstory of Konoha LOL

In short I think Sasuke's plan is probably to keep the Hokage around and use them against Naruto after Madara is dealt with. He wants to make them watch while he kills Naruto and destroys Konoha.

I originally thought he might do something like join Madara, but after that chapter I doubt it.

Its possible he might become a bad guy again, but it will probably be unrelated if that happens.

Sasuke is finally getting his act together and realizing what is at stake, and growing up.
