Saved Kakashi from getting impaled by that Iwa ninja and managed to tag the guy's foot.

Nor is the catching naruto because he had forward momentum. You don't get forward momentum from teleporting; you just appear.

If Minato tags Kakuzu the battle is finished, Minato could teleport the times and the moment he wanted.

So, the question is: can Minato place a mark on Kakuzu before he gets kiled?

And my answer: yes he can.

Minato can dodge any of Kakuzu's elemental attacks and if he gets catched with the threads he can simply Ftg away.
He eventually would get in cqc distance and a rasengan would make Kakuzu use his Domu technique, making very easy to Minato to use the rasengan+FTG seal combo.

Kakuzu cancel his technique in order to can move her body and one/two hearth down (if not all) by rasengan blitz.
Repeat the process until Kakuzu doesn't move.

If he places a mark and kills him, that would only bring down one heart. Minato will think he is dead and Kakuzu will make a sneak attack on him.

Obito, who's body was in another dimension, got clocked by Minato. Kakuzu isn't landing a sneak attack. If he wants to win, he has to do it face to face.
