while I rank minato >gaara. In my top what ever lists in terms of actual abilities gaara> minato


i always believed gaara is a very good counter to minato (to those who think i'm his hater I hate his fan boys not him, i also believe gaara is a very good counter to itachi as well)

the reason is,

1. his sands act as he wishes, unlike other elements that can not be solidified or those that can not be manipulated, or has less density.

2. his sands can become a shield, can become a spear. defence and offence, midrange and close range, all possible

3. minato can't tag his sands, because basically sands can disperse and come together as well, making his tags useless (to tag, one needs a surface, and there is no surface in the sand once gaara decides to change its form)

4. his ultimate defence, which he used against both sasuke and deidara, will need a very good attack to penetrate, and i don't think minato has such an attack(chidori was successful cuz one it was close range two because at time gaara thought no one could penetrate sand ball so he didn't even defend it and 3 because it was pt 1 his sand now won't lose to a simple chidori it's even too dangerous getting in tht kind of close range with the amount of sand gaara carries now)

5. gaara, if i recall, has one of best good chakra reserves, as former jinchuriki. ( U need to have high chakra reserves and stamina to even become one) thus even in long battle he's not at a disadvantage.

6. just like kisame, gaara can basically make any place his battle field with his sand to a certain extent, making things to his advantage, and unless you can fly, you're always going to be fighting the sand since you're stepping on it.

7. with that third eye, he doesn't need to reveal himself to the enemy and can always hide in his ultimate defence.

still minato is dangerous, smart, and fast, rasengan and hiraishin combo, all those dangerous seals and plus the shiki fujin, summons. Still say gaara wins

Gaara's sand is fast enough to block and 'swallow up' Minato's kunai. Minato doesn't want to teleport into Gaara's sand, doesn't he?

Gaara's third eye prevents Minato's attempt to sneak up behind. Any location with earth (90 percent of wear ppl woyld fight)Location favors Gaara also. He can grind more sand from the ground and send a sand tsunami at Minato, making Minato's tags on surroundings useless.



The only way I c minato winning is because of gamabunta withy he oil thts it but gaara hasn't let tht stop him with the 2nd mizukage who has more oil and better uses of it then gamabunta who just spits it out and minato wouldn't know about oil being gaara weakness cuz well he wasn't in the war lml plus gamabunta wouldn't just use it out of no where it's for a combo attack mixed with fire

Side comments gaara can also fly giving him another advantage over minato because he can't and gaara would be out of range for him
Also gaara can sense ppl with his sand so minato can't hide I mean the best hide and sneak ninja in series (mu) couldn't even get around tht minato can't..



Anyways my opinion is gaara superior to minato
But on top ten lists I put minato > gaara cuz gaara is just a really bad match up for him and some ppl minato beats gaara can't

I actually had the exactly same thoughts, I think if Gaara covers himself up in the sandball high up in the air and watching Minato with the 3rd eye, there's nothing Minato can do, first of all he can't even reach him, then even if he reaches him he can't break through the defense, while Minato's kunais and marking get buried by the sand. the frogs are prob the most effective option but with the size of sand tsunami Gaara makes, I doubt the frogs can last too long either, Gaara with a much larger chakra reverse than Minato and battle intelligence that somewhat rivals Minato's, I can't think of a way Minato can win this one.

Sure but that doesn't mean his sand will be fast enough to react to Minato's space-time considering that his sand hasn't shown to be capable of such speed.

So, what is that going to do to Minato?

Minato can tag the ground and throw kunai all around Gaara. Then he can teleport inside Gaara's sand dome and destroy Gaara from inside his own comfort zone.

He has access to toad oil and the ability to teleport right beside Gaara and then leaving a tag on Gaara's sand armour. Once that is done, Gaara will probably want to remove the tag which can only be done via sand armour. After that, a rasengan will kill Gaara.

No the 2nd Mizukage's amount of oil doesn't compare with what the toad army is capable of doing. The 2nd Mizukage only has oil on his body but the toads can produce a lot more oil. Any way, Minato happens to be extremely intelligent so he'll figure out that oil doesn't react well with sand.

Sand hail doesn't have the feats to kill Bunta who managed to tank an air bullet from Shukaku Gaara. Bunta also tanked shinra tensei.

All in all, Minato wins mid difficulty.

first of all, Minato teleports to a certain radius very close to the marking, Gaara can make the wall thick enough so Minato can't get through, and it's already thick enough. 2nd, Gaara can minimize the space in his sand ball, which appeared to be small during Chuunin exam. then, since Gaara can rearange sand, a small shift is enough to make the tag lose its purpose, lastly, that's IF Minato can actually reach the sand.

FTG is so fast that even Obito's kamui is incapable to react despite Sharingan precognition. I doubt Gaara's sand would be able to react fast enough to protect him personally. We've already seen since part1 that super high speed could penetrate his defense. And FTG surpasses high speed movements. He won't even have time to react. Yeah you may say that Gaara improved since back then, but his sand barrier is automatic. I don't see how Gaara improved that

Furthermore, Gaara's sand has the bad habit to contain everything someone throws at him(Kunais, Shurikens or Mizukage's oil for example). Because of this, with the amount of kunais that would be around him at the time his defense would block them, Minato could easily appear next to him and either finish him directly or even if he doesn't, he would get marked, which would signify the end of the fight.

you are right about the radius, prob gonna be hard for Gaara to make sand sphere with thickness more than that, but the can make sure the inner space is small enough so a human can't fit through. if the Sand ball actually gets tagged, rearrange it a little and the seal is broken.

Minato won't be able to reach Gaara because Minato can't fly, while Gaara can.

the acceleration A can swing his foot downwards is not the same as gravity, it's a lot faster than freefalling, Gaara got a good amount sand in there right in there very fast, there was no sand around when A was swinging his foot downwards and all of sudden there's a lot.
