Ch 2
Minato/Kushina/Mikoto/Fugaku=16 years old
Minato strolled through the village, enjoying the peace. He walked past the new flower store, Yamanaka Flowers. His friend Inoichi sat at the front desk, looking bored. Minato popped in, hoping too lift Inoichi's mood. Sure enough, Inoichi smiled when he walked in.
"Well if it isn't the Yellow Flash." His friend grinned. "Just the person I wanted to see actually."
"Oh yeah?" Minato asked wearily. Things like this didn't usually turn out well with Inoichi the flirt.
"Yeah! I was supposed to take out a blind date today, but my dad has me working in the stupid flower shop" Inoichi made a face. "Can you fill in for me?"
"What?!" Minato yelped. "No!"
"Please? Fugaku is setting it up, and he wouldn't tell me who it is, but I doubt its anyone bad if he set it up. You're supposed to be the one who selflessly does things for his best friends!" Inoichi pleaded.
Inwardly, Minato cursed his kindness, and sighed. "Fine. Where is it?"
Inoichi gave him the address and told him it was at seven o'clock that night.
When Minato left the flower shop, he pondered on who it could be. Fugaku set it up, so it would probably be one of the girls in their group.
Mikoto? No, Fugaku wouldn't let anyone go out with her. She had to marry in the Uchiha clan when it was time, so she didn't go out with boys.
Kushina? The thought struck him for only a second before he shook it off. No way would she agree to a date.
Tsume Inuzuka? No, Fugaku wouldn't let Inoichi and her go out. She was too tomboyish and animalistic. He knew Inoichi liked girlier girls.
Yoshino? No, she and Shikaku Nara were dating.
Chie? No, she was with Chouza Akimichi.
Definitely not Hitomi Hyuuga, or Hiashi would murder them.
Not Kana Hyuuga, Fugaku wouldn't disrespect their kind friend Hizashi of the branch family of the Hyuuga clan like that. Hizashi had a huge crush on the fellow Hyuuga.
So who? Surely Fugaku would tell Minato, his best friend since before the academy?
So off Minato went to find the Uchiha, regretting going into the flower shop. He barged into the Uchiha compound with as much fury as he could draw up, which wasn't a lot, since he wasn't an angry person in general. He passed the houses of Fugaku's relatives. Suddenly he felt a small bump on his leg. There was a boy who looked about five or six that was pulling on his pant leg.
"Yes?" Minato asked, suppressing a smile at the utter cuteness. His weak rage was completely gone.
"Why do you look so mad Mister?" He asked.
"I'm not mad kid. What's your name?" Minato said.
"I'm Obito!" The boy grinned.
"Hi Obito. Do you know where Fugaku Uchiha is?"
"Cousin Fugaku is with my big sister!" The six year old grinned mischievously. "I'll show you."
Obito led him through the compound, until they reached the main house. Instead of going in like Minato thought, they skirted around it, and went out back. There was a small forest in the back.
"They meet up over there" Obito grinned in the way only kids can when they know something others don't know. Minato was led into a clearing. On the other side of the clearing, there was Fugaku...
Making out with Mikoto.
"OI JACKASS!" Minato's shout broke them apart quickly. "Thanks Obito, you can go now. Hopefully we'll meet again." Obito gave him an adorable dimpled grin, waved, and ran away.
"Minatoooooo!" Fugaku complained. "We were busy!"
"Like hell you were busy! Apparently not too busy to set up some blind date for Inoichi who is making me go instead of him since he's working at the shop tonight!"
Mikoto heard that and grinned like crazy at that.
"He's making you what?" both Uchihas said at the same times. Minato growled in response.
"This should be interesting" Mikoto giggled.
"So? Who is it?" Minato asked.
"I'm not telling!" Mikoto said. "Fugaku set up the guy, and I set up the girl."
"Mikoto!" Minato whined. He really wanted to know who he would have to take on a date. And the fact that Fugaku and Mikoto were making out was pretty interesting too. He didn't know they liked each other. But it fit, since they would have to marry within the clan anyways.
"Just wait." Fugaku said mysteriously.
"Fine" Minato grumbled. "But what was that between you two? I wasn't aware of this! How long has it been going on?" Minato felt pride at making Mikoto blush darkly with that question. Fugaku cleared his throat and rubbed the back of his neck while staring at the ground. All nervous habits of his that Minato recognizes from being around him so often.
"Well... We like each other, and I'm pretty sure we would have to be married anyways, so why not?" Mikoto asked. Minato nodded thoughtfully. He congratulated the new couple before walking off to get ready for the blind date. It didn't matter Inoichi wasn't going since the girl didn't know who she was going out with. It was a blind date after all.
He went home and changed out of his Chunin flak jacket. He put on a loose black shirt which girls always seemed to tell him he looked "sexy" in. The fangirls were always telling him that though.
He pulled on a pair of black pants, grabbed a blue jacket, and left to meet the girl at the restaurant. He saw that it was a barbeque place, with the mini hibachi grills for every table. He checked the clock on the wall, and saw that it was 6:50. Only ten minutes. Five minutes later, Minato was still waiting outside the restaurant, when he heard his name being called by a familiar voice.
"Minato? What the hell are you doing here?" He already knew he would see a beautiful girl with bright red hair in front of him. What he didn't expect was how sexy she would look. She didn't need makeup. She never needed it, as her face was pretty without it. She was wearing a dress of all things! A dress on the super tomboy Kushina Uzumaki? It brought out her blue eyes perfectly though. Surely the fashion forward Mikoto's idea.
"How much did Mikoto pay you to get you into that?" Minato asked weakly. He couldn't believe it. The girl he'd had a crush on for so long was going to have dinner with him. She looked offended at first, but then grinned. "500 ryo." She admitted.
'Oh God, why is she so cute!' Minato's thoughts raged. 'No you idiot! Kushina doesn't like guys! She's too cool to deal with lame girly guys like me!'
"Well? I'm guessing your my date for the night, so let's go in." Kushina suggested. Minato stopped mentally arguing with himself.
"Yeah sure" he agreed. They went in, and got a table. They hadn't talked much since he had rescued her, except when the entire group hung out. This was the first time they were alone together.
They talked about idle things, like missions and their other friends. Minato told her about Mikoto and Fugaku and how he had caught them kissing.
"No way!" Kushina's eyes widened in surprise. "I knew those two would end up together!"
"I know," Minato agreed. "They're really cute together."
"Man Namikaze, your such a girl" Kushina grinned. "Do guys usually talk about how 'cute' couples are?"
'Arghhhhhh!' Minato thought desperately. 'I just stood myself to stop being such a girl, but what am I doing? Being a girly guy!'
Then the food came, distracting them from their conversation. They talked more about missions, when Minato worked up enough courage to ask about something he thought might be taboo.
"So what's it like being a jinchuuriki?" Minato asked softly. They were nearly done with the meal.
Kushina looked deflated for a minute, then brightened.
"There are good sides and bad sides. I have a lot of chakra and control over it, and if I'm exhausted, once, I used its chakra. But people look at you differently if they know. My aunts and uncles told my cousins not to play with me when we were younger, and some people who know don't talk to me." Kushina went on, describing the power and responsibility. Minato was dumbfounded. He had no idea it was such a gift and a curse.
"Well I'd never look at you differently Kushina." He said.
Kushina blushed. Or at least that's what it looked like to him, who had never seen her blush before.
"Thanks-ttebane"
"I noticed you do that. You add that dattebane at the end of sentences sometimes. Is there a reason for that?"
Kushina's blush flushed deeper, the same color as her hair."No!" She said rather quickly. "Its nothing!"
Minato didn't believe that for a second, but didn't push it and pursue any farther. He knew about the Red Hot Habanero's temper.
"So Minato." She began. "I feel we haven't talked at all. "
"Well we haven't really, not since I ummmmm...rescued you." Minato was a modest man.
"So Mr. Yellow Flash, I hear you're quite something with the ladies."
"Yeah, I guess. They kind of flock around me." He admitted. She whispered "fangirls" to him under her breath.
They began a conversation about his creepy fangirls.
After dinner, Minato offered to walk Kushina home. She gladly said yes. As they walked in comfortable silence, Minato noticed her shiver in the chilly night air.
He immediately pulled off his jacket and handed it to her. She looked at him blankly.
"You look cold in that" he said. She grinned.
"Thanks Namikaze." She took the jacket, and slid into it.
Minato loved the way the sleeves were too long for her, and how it was slightly oversized. She looked so cute.
"So Kushina. What is your favorite color?" Minato made smalltalk.
"Yellow." She answered immediately. Then she hastily added, "Not 'cuz of you though. Because that would be weird. You?"
"Red." He blushed. "Not because of you though. That would be weird."
They both laughed.
"So Minato. Remember the first time we met? You said something about being Hokage. You were so girly, I didn't believe you could, but what with all the rumors about the 'Yellow Flash', I'm wouldn't be surprised if you made it to Hokage." Minato was so pleased to hear this from her, he grinned so wide, Kushina looked at him strangely. "You smile a lot." She said, pointing out the obvious.
"I know. Smiling is a good way to spread positive energy." Minato explained.
"You're right. You're so cheerful, all the time, it naturally makes everyone around you, including me, just grin like total dorks." She was secretly happy he had this effect on her.
"Thanks! That's what I aim for when I smile. I like spreading peace. "Soon they reached her house.
"Bye Minato. I had fun tonight." She grinned.
"Bye Kushina."
Later, in her room, Kushina realized that she forgot to give Minato is jacket back. 'Wouldn't it be so funny if I slept with it or something like a movie?' She thought. She snorted and threw the jacket on a chair. As if. 'No falling in love,' she reminded herself.
Later, she realized the problem there. She had to remind herself.
