The Gentle Fist style is based around the Bagua Zhang style of Taoist-influenced martial arts:

And the Gentle Step appears to be modeled after Xingyiquan:

We haven't seen much of the Gentle Step - but it would make sense, given that when Hinata used it - it was a rapid forward motion that seemed to set up similar to a spear thrust (also the animal theming).

Part of the key concept of Taoism is harmony and unity with nature.

It can easily be argued that the strong selfish emotions associated with evil actions would be an inhibiting factor to a Hyuga's access of higher tiers of performance.

His pain was far greater than Hinata's LOL, although his methods were different he wasn't completely evil, Hinata is a lot like orihime soft and gentle but she would never turn against naruto after all he is her inspiration

That would be a pretty interesting twist if it was executed properly! But I'm rooting for NaruHina, so I wouldn't want an evil Hinata. Besides, we already got an overly aggressive one in Road to Ninja.
