My gf recently got a job offer to Canada and she's moving and I want to move as well. I have a couple of questions and I just need personal opinions!
1. How is the climate in Toronto? Cold most of the year, but we have a lot of hot. We have -30 all the way up to +30 in Toronto.
2. Is the pay good for Orthopedic surgeons or am I better off staying in Australia? Not sure...
3. Are the people friendly there? Be honest please. Depends on who you're around - however most people are quite friendly and won't be mean and scare you off
4. Can I use the degree I got in Australia or do I have to complete practice in Canada again? Again, I'm not sure, sorry
5. I love cold weather so how is the weather in summer? It is quite hot in the summer imo. 15-20 is the norm but it can reach 30+ sometimes
6. What are the main things to do for fun in Canada? I know I can't go to the beach because it's cold lol. In Toronto, uh, Canada's Wonderland is quite a big amusement park. Take a walk, we got nice scenary
7. What are the prices to buy a house? Let's say a 3 room house in a nice neighbourhood, will I be able to afford one in Toronto?
Houses here vary in price. The average one-two room apartment (I live in the suburbs) are around $150k. However I've seen three bedroom houses clocked in at the same price as well. It all depends on where - downtown Toronto though? A million for a one-two bedroom apart. so I'll stick away from there if you want a 'cheaper' home...
8. How's the crime rate in Toronto? I know Canada is one of the best countries but it's better to be safe than sorry
Highest Crime Rate in Canada, but tbh the crime here isn't too bad. Just stay away from the 'bad' locations if you know what I mean.
9. How does the healthcare system work? I've been told it's one of the best in the world.
You get a health card. You go to the doctor and they do whatever they gotta do and you leave, all for free. Some prescription drugs are priced but some are given for free. Taxes are higher though...
I'm too lazy to search all of them up so I need some PERSONAL opinions from people that live there. If you don't live there but still visited, feel free to reply. Thanks!
There you go. Tried my best to answer
