Here is what our police think about various gun control measures. Even I was surprised at how one sided these votes were.

The world's filling up with *******s and phsychopaths. The people commiting shootouts and murders aren't the law abiding citicens that the government is trying to choke and expose with restrictions on firearm posessions.

The people pulling off mass-murdering stunts are not the kind of people that follow firearm regulations. Restricting posession of arms won't stop steeling, illegal trade OR the black market--and it CERTANLY won't stop the world from individuals with damaged minds.

The best thing we can do now is protect ourselves IN EVERY WAY WE KNOW HOW

I thought that pro-rights would get about 70% on average but it ended up being around 85%. It just feels like there are more anti-rights people than there really are.

Very smart man. The one who can protect you best is yourself for you know exactly who is putting you in danger.

If they don't feel like their rights are threatened, they aren't going to do anything. It's why their aren't huge amounts of people actively opposing gay marriage, they aren't going to lose their right to get married.

As for Question 9: It comes down to the way this right is interpreted for the United States. You could easily interpret it as saying U.S. citizens have the right to bear arms regardless of training. Putting the safety class restriction now restricts a fundamental right. Now, if said safety class was free, then you'd see more people agreeing that it should be required.

For Question 29: You will find a strong correlation between bad parenting and delinquent/criminal behavior. Granted, there are always exceptions.

Being a Criminal Justice/Public Safety Administration degree-holder, I am not surprised by these results among law enforcement professionals at all. Most Law-abiding citizens who possess firearms will never commit a violent crime in general, much less than actually using a firearm to commit such a crime. Responsible people with guns aren't that scary, but irresponsible people with guns, knives, cars, alcohol, children, power, authority are... because their irresponsibility may not affect just them.
