Via Weekly Shonen Jump..........

And I have a question for someone who can answer it correctly........

I just wanted to get your thoughts on it............so I waited for the proper translation to come out before I asked......

Does anyone know what Madara means exactly?

Specifically, what was the "cause" and what was the "end"?

I have a vague idea, nothing solid. But I am almost certain of what he might mean........

Well.....

He probaly was talking about how there are going to be some people who would put the village in jeopardy for the greater good AKA Danzo and the village elders.

Post the full page. It'll be easier to figure out what they mean.

Well going off that i assume he means the end of the village. He may have thought that war was going to be the end of the village while madara is implying that it may be something else

hard to tell when you didnt post full page and I dont remember the rest lol. Probably Tobirama/others treating the Uchiha poorly etc. etc. That led to the massacre of an entire clan, thats pretty dark lol.

That's different from what I thought. Interesting...........that's a fair way of looking at it.

Hashirama thought that killing Madara would be the best solution to ending the conflict. However, by doing that, killing him did not make it any better for the village. It actually causes more internal conflict between the Uchihas and Senjus. But thats what I see.

That is what I thought as well. It seems to make the most sense to me.

I think it has to do with Hashirama's actions to protect konoha will lead to it's end and become darkness, as not hashi's intentions.
Madara defected from konoha partially to protect the uchiha from tobirama and fulfill his promise to izuna.
Also, he most likely predicted the outcome that his clan would die one way or another, so I think that the cause was Hashi trying to protect konoha by killing madara and the end would be the village eliminating the uchiha, or a war with the uchiha and village

Or I could be wrong on this

Well.....
"...The village shall lead to the protection of people, shinobi and children!"

Madara is simply saying what caused the village to be created in the first place (Protecting the people) is actually what will lead to it being enveloped in darkness (Protecting the people).

Hashirama for instance, killed his friend for the sake of the village. Itachi killed his own clan for the sake of the village. Hashirama believed the village was a solution to the clan vs. clan wars, but Madara believed the village was just a ticking time bomb.

him killing Madara would be the "cause", which Hashirama believes is the end.

To counter this Hashirama told his younger brother to not segregate the Uchiha clan. Yet in doing so Tobirama ended up promoting Madara supporters. Hence why Madara's death is the cause of all that. ;].

Tobirama reacted to segregating the Uchiha due to Madara, in that response Uchiha over the time felt segregated and started to sympthize Madara, then Obito attacked the village, the leaders reacted by blaming the Uchiha (adding fuel to the fire), later on Uchiha got tired and started to revolt, FINALLY the konoha leaders killed the Uchiha..

Hashirama thought killing Madara was the end but instead it ended up being the cause ;]

Just to clarify more,

That is why Hashirama believes it is his fault.

Then re-read the translations.

Hashirama believed the village was the solution to the clan vs. clan wars. It was the solution to protect people. However:

Madara stated that what caused the village to be created (Protecting people) was not the real solution, and this solution would not put an end to the darkness. Why? Simple:

The village did not solve the problem of people fighting to protect things. It just shifted it. He admitted that much and believed it was acceptable to make a few sacrifices for the "greater good", but this ended up creating people like Sasuke and Nagato.
