^ Title.

I've been curious about this for a while now and I don't think it was explained. Jiraiya was about 18 when he fought the original Animal path and when he met Nagato, Yahiko & Konan he was about 25.

Nagato formed the Akatsuki ten years later and formed the new akatsuki a couple more. That's about 20 years when Jiraiya fought original Pain when he was alive, how did Nagato get his hands on his corpse and why specifically him and other antagonists from Jiraiya's book?

Did Nagato even know Jiraiya was alive?

^ not sure if trolls or unaware.

Before jiraiya dies to pain, he notices that each path of pain has been created from the bodies of people he met during his travels. OP is asking why Nagato chose to use these bodies in particular.

My thoughts is that they may have been mentioned in one of Jiraiyas books. Other then that I'm not quite sure. I'm certain there was a reason for it though..

Jiraiya and them killed those (pein) Rain Shinobi, and buried the bodies somewhere in a small shallow graveyard..
Original Akatsuki (yahiko) were Peaceful , so they didn't go around killing anymore..
Those dead (future/ Pein) bodies were the only bodies Nagato could find when he learned about the different paths.
so he used them for his Rinnegan abilities....that is what Obito told him about I assume.

Maybe jiraiya gave nagato one of his books, and he found those characters there which he personally took as the 6 foundation of pain, and then revive their body with the use if gakido

I think it's because they were seekers of the peace, like Jiraya and Nagato.

Yeah.. I also wondered about that.. How Nagato got hands on those shinobi whom Jiraiya fought?
It doesn't appear random that Nagato happened to have all 6 dead bodies of persons known to Jiraiya..
I think its an unexplained plot hole...

All of the Paths in living form were encountered by Jiraiya after he had left Nagato. I presume this was a point after Yahiko died, and Obito persuaded them to create the Akatsuki. In these encounters, Jiraiya is clearly older (I'd say around 47-50) than when he was training the Rain trio.

By this point, Nagato had already been taking steps to create peace. It's not explained why Nagato chose shinobi Jiraiya had previously encountered as his bodies, but I think it acted as a clue. This being that Jiraiya would notice they all suddenly acquired the Rinnengan that they didn't have before - the same eyes he'd previously seen via Nagato. The message behind the eyes would be that Nagato has been following and observing everything that Jiraiya did.

He never fought them,He just met them in his journey and that too was a co-incidence that nagato chosed them as the bodies of pain..

And don't u understand it due to the plot.If he would'nt had met them then how would he have know about the reality and secrets of the bodies of pain and told to Konoha about them thru fukasaku and hence Naruto would have never be able to defeat him.....

all plot, Kishi had to make a way for him to be beaten, otherwise the show would not go on.

I believe it wasnt due to plot (ok maybe a lil) but more due to prophecy. J man was destined to meet those people in his life and destined to meet them again fighting pein. Coincidence? I think so! Haha

Wasn't it because the toad sage told him to go out on a journey? He encountered all the ninja on that journey and I think it was so he could tell the leaf or Naruto that the real one wasn't there, not sure if Nagato got them because their bodies were strong or because they had battled jiraiya
