However Kakuzu would have died either way since Rasen shuriken already damaged every cell in Kakuzu's body. It was only a matter of time before his internal organs fail to function, and die.
So in all honestly, he didn't need to kill Kakuzu, since he is already in the brink of dying.
A hunter should be able to defeat his opponent on his own, otherwise he will get hunted by his prey.
