Why does every Uzumaki known have red hair except for Naruto?

Naruto is actually Namikaze, but so as to protect him and prevent people from knowing that he was the son of Yondaime Hokage, Sandaime-Hiruzen, named him Uzumaki after his mum's clan. Also Naruto has some properties of the Uzumakis like a strong chakra (this being independent of the Kyubi's chakra in him).

Maybe the red hair is passed on from the males of the clan? Who knows. Maybe it is a trait of the clan but not a defining feature. The uchihas tend to have dark hair but I remember in a flashback I remember seeing an uchiha with lilac hair (I may be wrong about that!). On another note do clans marry within their own clans or do they marry out?
