Gaara in desert vs itachi ( alive )

If Gaara starts his fight with Itachi like he did against Shippuden Sasuke, He loses, as he showed he has no qualms against looking into Uchiha eyes.. He even had to be told by Onooki not to look at Madara's.. Since he doesn't know of Itachi and his genjutsu prowess, it's safe to say he'll act the same way against him as he did with Sasuke... In which case, he'd get ko'ed by Tsukyomi at the start of the match.....

If gaara isn't making eye contact, the fight goes a totally other direction... One he gets aerial , He wins... unless Itachi has a crow summoning he can ride on.. gaara takes it in that scenario



Misconceptions being spouted in this thread-

Gaara's sand never protected him from Sasuke's amaterasu attack.. Sasuke never used amaterasu on Gaara.. he used Enton.. enton is significantly slower than amaterasu.. as it's basically the use of already existing flames... We already know since part 1 that speed is a counter to garra's defence.. and amaterasu is one of the fastest attacks in the manga

According to the databook, Gaara's optic nerve is connected with his third eye ability, meaning if it's cast on that, it will also be cast on gaara

itachi is famous for his genjutsu so gaara probably heard about it from the hidden leaf before the war when the kages were discussing. i don't think gaara would look itachi in the eyes, sasuke and madara weren't famous for their genjutsu but itachi was. IMO itachi only has genjutsu to hurt gaara but if gaara just doesn't look in his eyes or uses his third eye then i think he can win.

in a desert gaara mid diff any where else gaara high diff.

Garra stomps, he has too many advantages against Itachi. People saying he'll look into the eyes of Itachi are foolish as if Garra has no intelligence. The reason Garra looked in Sasuke's eyes was to see if there was any hope for his return, after being consumed by darkenss so long. When facing Itachi, Garra wouldn't care and start with sand tsunami as usual.

We also know that when fighting against the sharingan, as chiyo states, "one must not do it alone, but rather as a group/pair" in order to break genjutsu their. As this was information gathered from sand shinobi, an elite at that why wouldn't such information be apparent to the Kazekage?!?!Nonetheless, in that situation he had room to be somewhat careless, as there was 1 vs 5.

If ones only argument is that "he'll look into Itachi's eyes" it's a pointless debate, as multiple character have looked into either Itachi or Sasuke's eye, even with having prior knowledge. The only difference between those characters and Garra, is his ability to attack and defend without having to use direct eye-contact.

when people wondered who were controling the edos,the ninjas stated that only itachi was capable of controlling someone from a distance,shushi,who taught itachi his shadow ideology was the most famous genjutsu user of the leaf,it dosent matter if you want fame or not,once you are poweful and you fight,everyone will see it.

Kakashi got hit with a tsuki,asuma and kurenai were there,and tsunade healed him,knowing abt his genjutsu prowess isnt difficult.

Sharingan genjutsu requires DIRECT eye contact with both parties,if you lok at them through a mirror,they cant hit you. Genjutsu affects the brainmyou cant get anyone's brain through an eye made of sand,and you cant hit sand with a genjutsu. The eye is made of sand,which i am pretty sure cant get caught in a genjutsu, he faced 5 madaras without looking at their eyes,am sure itachi wont be different. He can as well use his sand sensing to fight itachi if he wants.

Once again, Sasuke's actions in the manga lean to him having no knowledge of sharingan users or Itachi on that matter.... he walked right up to Sasuke while making eye contact, and so did his both suna siblings.... Onooki had to warn him that Madara has strong genjutsu and not to look into his eyes... However, that warning does not apply to ALL sharingan users.... he was warned about Madara.. not all sharingan users... just like naruto was warned against Itachi and went on to look at Sasuke..

There is nothing what so ever in the manga that suggests that Gaara has knowledge of anything uchiha related.. You're debating simply based on your wishful thinking that because he's a newly made "kage" he automatically has knowledge of everything in the world... Try again?

Why do people always act as if it is a natural thing to just close his eyes to avoid Genjutsu, according to the motto: Ah, as he's a visual Genjutsu user, I will just not look at his body or close my eyes, a simple way to avoid Genjutsu.

I don't want to get offensive, but sometimes people sound very retarded. It's a matter of habit to look into the opponents eyes while fighting him. Sakura stated that it's very hard to keep avoiding eye contact to his opponent, and on top Itachi can cause illusion not only with his eyes, what makes it even harder and forces opponents to close their eyes. If one was to avoid eye contact, Itachi could easily force him to do so with various moves. As if it wasn't hard enough to keep up with Itachis speed and feints in normal meanings, members want his opponents to do it while continuously try to avoid eye contact or even close their eyes, in other words continuously concentrating themselves not to fall for any illusion. Itachi has Tsukuyomi and other visual Genjutsu, he can cause Genjutsu with his hand and may even his whole appearance, he can send out crows that are equipped with a Sharingan and will catch him off guard by distracting him, and Itachi on top can go into an offensive battle with Tai- and Ninjutsu, weapons, his feints with Kagebunshin and even his Mangekyo Sharingan.
